The Halo games are particularly guilty of this although this is something constantly plauging the games industry in general.

I'd say that saying Starcraft was inspired by Starship Troopers is incorrect. Starcraft was based heavily on Warhammer 40K factions (look at original concept art) after the original artwork for Starcraft was abandoned (it looked like Warcraft 2 in space).

Beattie did not write Pirates of the Caribbean he did some dialogue writing for it thats all, its says so on iMDB.
