In theory, maybe, but in practice, where’s the sustained demonstration of that having happened?

The usual demand is that idealized capitalism must be compared to a red-scare caricature of communism, while in every mixed system every positive detail must be credited entirely to capitalism while everything that goes wrong is entirely the fault of departures from pure laissez-faire capitalism.

So would your idea of CORRUPTION also apply to nations with a powerful church? Or ones with a powerful monarchy and aristocracy? How about ones which are dominated by laissez-faire capitalists? Or military juntas?

That is, in fact, how it worked in some parts of the Soviet Union, too. There was genuine competition between military design bureaus. So just because something is state-owned instead of private doesn’t mean literally everything gets dictated from above.

I mean, the historical record shows this to be true. It’s why the Soviet Union rose from backwater to rivalling the US so quickly, why China’s economic growth is outpacing the US, and why Cuba is having so many successes despite crushing economic sanctions.

the problem is that all of our real world communism examples are not transparent. This tends to breed corruption.

isnt technically any released switch game ready to play on PC? i thought yuzu was fairly complete these days

People will apparently never stop lying about this. Kotaku rewrote the article twice, deleted the original, AND apologized for it, but some readers are still doing this “Don’t believe your lying eyes” schtick.

The posted an article saying someone had figured out how to emulate it on launch day. They never told people to pirate it

This kind of mindless consumerism is exactly why Pokemon has stagnated so much.

I bet it will run great emulated on a gaming PC though!

It’s easy to own things when you’re born into emerald mine money, which is the man’s one true accomplishment in life.

I remember watching a documentary once about climate change and the guy in charge of India was having an impassioned speech with other world leaders and he was like “This is BULLSHIT! You guys got 100 years of cheap, dirty energy that allowed you to modernize your countries but you polluted the hell out of everything.

No, we offshored environmental disasters to China, India, South America...

They’re more civilized than the US, though.

The US and much of the Western world outsourced all the dirty manufacturing industries to China decades ago. Blaming China entirely for emissions due to producing the products the west consumes is absolute silliness.

But communism eleventy zillion dead!

Lol ok rightoid

“The USSR and current Communist China all have far, far worse records on the environment than the liberal democracies around the world.”

How DID Capitalism handle climate change though?
