I should have put the reply in direct response to Penelope Jack. But you did say you kind of agree, and I would argue they it is not at ALL "like when conservatives call liberals libtards". It's a fundamentally different action.

Sorry, I should have said 100% of the sub-bit. My main point was that the part about the name change was completely driven by his hypocrisy, not by the desire to make fun of a name or call him something offensive.

what are you talking about? Drumpf was his family's actual last name. He did include two lines of jokes about "what the name sounds like", but did not insert an existing offensive word into his name like a 3rd grader. He didn't call his Donald Retard or Donny Queerbag or Don Rumpshaker (although that one would be

"Add that in to Trump deriding Jon Stewart for changing his name and implying he was hiding from something, and that's the bit"

I think you may have missed the joke in the 30 Rock quote (or maybe not, but you don't address it at all)...

True!

Cool! I have never heard of that!

he also set the template that, hey, even indie labels can rip off artists, too!

Ooh yeah, they should have been on my list of missed artists, too.

Dude, that was the best chapter.

Sure, that's a fine opinion for you to have, but they certainly belong in that conversation. I for one can't stand The Replacements music and I have always wanted to like the Minutemen more than I do, but I appreciated their chapters int eh book.

Fair, but they were an American indie band at that time. Some of the best stories from the book revolved around Europe (see: Butthole Surfers)

Insane.

I only read this book two or three years ago and I love it so, so much. But I did feel like there were a few other bands that really would have filled some holes:
Dead Kennedys
Circle Jerks
Misfits
Descendents

Mudhoney was in there so he could write about Nirvana and Sub Pop — subjects he had already extensively written about.

It describes most of your google image searches for sharapova

Wait, I thought Circle Jerks resurrected this song on their live album, Gig?

I owned a couple obscure punk records that did it, too.

That's too bad since Sappy is a top-5 Nirvana song, along with Aneurysm, another-why-did-they-leave-it-off a real album track?

When I first saw the headline, I thought someone had done a shot-for-shot remake of Cabin Boy. Let's just say I was a little disappointed to read the actual review.
