Had a rental recently (sorry too many rentals to remember what it was) and had to shut off the lane assist as it was doing the weave to one side of the lane, adjust, weave to the other side, adjust, weave back, repeat endlessly.  Everytime turning the steering wheel a little bit in my hand. I drove a rental 18 Corolla, and did not like the lane assist on that one. I felt like it was trying to keep me in the lane and move the steering wheel when when I was clearly in the center of the lane.

I wished these systems were designed not to share the driving task for long periods of time, but to take it over completely for very short periods when the system has high confidence it is interpreting its environment properly, like in the I-90 scenario I described above.

Its a feeling similar to tramlining in my opinion. I get the same feeling in my 2019 Ioniq. As long as I’m not in a groove where the road is louder, I actually just gave up caring. Meh. :D
