Saw an incredible stat over the weekend. Dominic Thiem is now the only active player under 30 years of age to win a set in a grand slam final, let alone a grand slam final match. It truly could be a lost generation of tennis.

Comparing apples to apples, a UPS second-day air flat-pack envelope from my home in New York to my mother in Arizona would cost $34.63, without weekend delivery. The same service via USPS is $6.70, or $24.70 if I want Saturday…

Why should the USPS make a profit? It’s a government service. Does the Army make a profit? The Justice Department? The USPS also doesn’t get to cherry-pick its routes like UPS or Fed Ex do. Do you think that if you lived in Nome, Alaska, Fed Ex would deliver a letter for you for 50¢?
