This is one of the best follow-up jokes I've ever seen on Deadspin. Is deserving of more love, as Nail would say.

I think it would've gone over well. The Deadspin readership/commentariat is fairly well-rounded. The Burrows joke may not have been as universal as this one, but it still would've been a hit. But this is a good one. Let's be happy with this joke, and leave the speculation of what could've been to greater minds.

Oh this is just so dumb and great

Jesus

I hope you continue to fight the good fight against athletes like LeBron James and Rafa Nadal. The world is that much duller without the Sean R and Skip Bayless types of the world.

You began to push the envelope of ignorance. Did I push it too far?

Well, I figured boredom was kind of your thing, seeing as, ya know, you enjoy watching Roger Federer play tennis. Seriously though, if that petulant stiff had halfway decent competition to contend with during his prime, he'd probably be looking at 5-6 Grand Slam titles. And finally, this, my last point on the matter:

I think the GOTY comment by Barry was nothing more than tongue-in-cheek hyperbole.

The Hazard run is quietly the best part of this goal. Still, despite the poor defending , that was a world-class ball from Cesc.

This should get all of the 1's

Your interaction with the commentariat is great. Keep it up.

Seriously, though. LeBron James has to be your least favorite person ever.

We could argue the merits of Nadal and Federer as the greatest to ever play until the sun comes up. They're both transcendent, all-time great talents.

So basically, you have no concept of the majesty of shot selection, spin, touch, and footwork

I'm on the same page. I only responded with the irrational disparagement of Fed to highlight how absurd his view is. He is the tennis equivalent of NBA fans who try and invalidate LeBron James with meaningless, bullshit flaws (ie HE ISN'T CLUTCH)

Ok, then you are

I can only assume that either you've

Thank you! It's like people who enjoy watching LeBron play basketball. I mean, sure, he combines unparalleled athleticism with transcendent skill, but who actually enjoys watching that?

This is false equivalence. Michael Sam and Jason Collins were newsworthy because they were unprecedented: no NBA/NFL player had ever come out as openly gay. This is not the case with lesbians in the WNBA. In contrast, any hetero professional athlete's engagement is typically not news on ESPN or any other sports site.

They sucked last year, and have done very little to improve in the meantime. So, yeah, they aren't a top 25 team.
