Yeah, it was a joke. As in, someone uneducated about atomic bombs might think a neutron bomb is a "less damaging" bomb. (It was hard to tell — I'll use tags next time.)

So, you're saying, use a neutron bomb then.

I love The Core. So much so that I'm going to go watch it again right now, because you reminded me of it.

A very fair assessment. If the T3 had been T1, we'd all be looking forward to the next one.

Agreed. Their score should have won an Oscar...the fact that it wasn't even nominated is a crime.

Excellent catch!

"Where's the jerk who calls himself The Tick!?"

True, but I was assuming you'd have to make orbit before you could engage the warp drive, and that there'd be some time to go from Moon orbit to landing.

Oh, okay. I'll take this one on. Story aside, there has never been another film that does a better job of putting the viewer on an alien planet. Cameron's films, particularly the most recent ones, are more about taking the audience to a new place than they are about character or plot.

Fun as it is to think of travelling to nearby stars, think of how quickly we could have humans on Mars, in the asteroid belt, on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn...imagine arriving at our own moon in hours, rather than days...and having all the resources of the Solar System at our fingertips.

Jim Henson is number one on my list of people I wish I could've met. And absolutely nothing I've read or heard about him has ever changed that in the slightest.

#12 is very reminiscent of Cameron's Avatar—perhaps it was one of the inspirations.

Ha. I'm 45 — I "came of age" watching reruns of the original Trek, and saw the original Star Wars at age 10.

I'm always dubious of the assertion that "everyone's getting dumber". It always comes out sounding like "everyone's dumb — except me".

Roddenberry was responsible for the original vision of Star Trek, but was not the only one to have input into it.

Fry: "How does it taste?"

A little harder to find than I thought, so maybe not quite as popular...

I remember a short story where an aging, bored Han slips off Coruscant in the Falcon, just to fly around a bit, maybe find some trouble, like in the old days. And he ends up running into...Boba Fett. I'd love to see that, and the photo circulating the net with current-day Ford as Solo keeps reminding me of it.

I love this movie. It was one of the first I absolutely had to have on blu-ray, to do the visuals justice. I still watch it on a fairly regular basis.

Not to nitpick, but I think it's the "transit" method, because the star dims a tiny bit as the planet transits in front of it.
