I watched the new Sabrina and thought it was ok. But if I had to choose between the version where being a witch means you might “win” a contest that requires you to slit your own throat so your fellow witches can devour your corpse and the version where you might develop a magical pancake addiction, I’d probably choose

That’s what I keep wondering—what’s funny about this? I can’t think of anybody, not even a member of the alt right, thinking “Hey look, my wife’s vagina is purple; that’s hilarious.” What the actual fuck.

That’s... true. But it doesn’t change my point.

Ok, so after 7 episodes I have to say: I like some parts, but overall I’m having a hard time buying in to this show. If I were given an invite to Hogwarts, I’d be thrilled—hang out with fun people, learn to fly brooms around, get involved in magic shenanigans! But what’s the upside to signing the book in Sabrina? You’r

Me too!!

This, totally this. I’m definitely not defending the practice, but I saw it several times during Halloween in the 70s and 80s in the small Wisconsin town I grew up in. I don’t recall parents being very concerned about it. I think the strongest reaction was “That’s weird, but whatever.”

Never for a second did I think anyone in the regular cast would die; I’m amazed anybody thought they’d do something like that. I would’ve bet real money on it being Jay’s dog. For some reason it didn’t occur to me that DeDe would be a decent candidate until that’s who it turned out to be!

I think there are two ways of looking at it. First, it may not have been a fixed point in time. It could’ve been an alterable point, which would explain why the Doctor was so worried it would go wrong.

Huh. I think I’ve seen that gif somewhere before. I wonder if that means I have a problem...

Oh good, I thought I was going crazy... there wasn't a theme or introductory credit sequence in both versions I saw on BBCA.

I maintain that the airplane rescue is the finest Superman setpiece we’ve ever had.

That is an excellent point!

I could swear when I saw the movie in 1987 on its first week of release it was the X-rated version. Every time I’ve seen the R-rated version since then, the scene where Murphy gets shot up isn’t as long or as graphic and the same goes for the poor shlub who gets shot up by ED-209. That scene just went on and on and on

What about Barbiere’s? Or does that not count because it’s too close to Wauwatosa? (Specifically thinking of its Bluemound Road location, not the one in South Milwaukee.)

I knew it was a long shot, but was hoping that he’d talk about Silverado. Great RR.

Aha! That makes sense.

Do we get any credit for being right all along?

I agree with you about Moffat. I didn’t like everything he did, but he was very good most of the time. I think history will look upon his time more kindly for the reasons you stated. People complain about his long-term arcs, but it made so many things in later seasons resonate incredibly well—Capaldi’s “Hello Sweetie”

River:Go on! Scan the whole parsec! The Doctor’s not here! God knows where he is right now, but I promise you, he’s doing whatever the hell he wants, and not giving a damn about me! And I’m just fine with that!”
