So barely any better fuel economy than the base 2.5L, a big price premium, the fact that diesel costs a lot more in most of the US, diesel emissions reliability problems that all modern cars seem to have now, and all for what? A bunch of torque in a still slow CUV? If you want fuel economy, just get the 2.5L and live…

Not sure how much different the current Outback is than the one I rented three years ago, but that was literally (tied with the Dodge Nitro) the worst new car I had ever driven, 100% because of that God awful CVT transmission. It was so slow in acceleration to actually be dangerous.
No 2014 was the last year for a manual Outback. I know because I own one.
I’m actually glad they are retrofitting the new 2.4 into it. They can finally ditch the 3.6, which although smooth as silk, is not torquey nor efficient.

8. No 6ft. box for the crew cab; something to be had in the Tacoma, Frontier, & Colorado/Canyon. The short box with crew cab, on any mid-sized pickup, looks like crap.
