I love the way these look and a few years back I really considered one because a depreciated exotic with a Toyota motor sounded like a no brainer. Unfortunately, after doing some research I found that they like to eat clutches OFTEN. And it’s an incredibly expensive job to have done. IIRC $7k or so.

BMW has stated they will not bring wagons for next gen 3 series.

As soon as the spy shots came out, the wife was all-in on replacing our f31 BMW with this, since BMW is so adamant about not bringing wagons anymore. I’d say these powertrain options will likely work for her. :)

What good is all that power in a front-wheel-drive car with an open diff?

You’re silly. Your dick isn’t going into this car. You’re driving it.

Two things wrong with this. 1) To get a proper LSD into a modern car diff you’ll pay 3x+ that amount. 2) Tearing apart or swapping the diff on a brand-new luxury car isn’t ideal.

To get the limited-slip diff you have to get the GT2. Which means $50k. That turns me off too much. If you could get the LSD in the GT1 or GT, I’d consider this thing.

“a car that can be had for the fraction of the price of a BMW 340i”

My wife and I do this sort of thing. We cross shop Mazdas with BMWs and the like. Sometimes we end up buying the cheaper one, other times we don’t.

I say crack pipe, but only because I’m jealous that these seem to have held their value so well. I sold my 2006 XT (also manual + reasonably modded) in 2008, with hardly any miles on it, for not a whole lot more than this guys is selling his 12 year old one. :(

where are you reading these #s?

Anyone that uses the term, “libs” as an insult, has about as much intellect as a sea slug.

As a previous 335d owner, I just don’t see diesel (cars) being worthwhile anymore. Lots of torque and better mileage, but more expensive to buy, less fun to drive, and stupidly complex to keep them clean enough to drive

THIS. And you still get all the “features” of the original that try to kill you, plus more power and better looks.

That’s totally the same headgasket as the mustang. Here, I overlaid the Mustang gasket on top of the RS (via photoshop). RS on top, Stang overlay on bottom. Any slight issues with lining up are because I flipped and warped the gasket into place.

GTFO of here with your being too cheap to fill 15 gallons of premium fuel.

That screen is a deal-breaker for me. When I drive at night, unless I NEED my nav for some reason, I turn the screen OFF because it’s a distraction that I don’t need and my eyes dilate much better without it on...which, you know, makes it so I can see stuff around me and carry more speed. My gauge cluster is also

First year cars = issues. First release software = issues. Issues + Issues = Duh...more issues.

I’m glad we have hot-rodders in the electric car space...but man is it going to be tough to get $750k for this when the new Tesla Roadster is faster, looks better, has production car reliability, and costs HALF A MILLION LESS
