I have marched against proud boys and patriot prayers; risked my life, seen some shit go down. I was merely suggesting a little tolerance. Y’all a bunch of whiny hypocrites.

Very convincing. I think I’ve already been modded off this site for my my passing flippant comment, which is hilarious to me. I’ve stood up to Proud Boys and other white supremacist groups on the streets, supported counter protest efforts, risked my life and wellbeing, and this is the response I get for sarcastically

Oddly enough? I’m well aware of how intolerant much of the Christian Right is. I don’t see how emulating that behavior is helping the left.

I am neither “pro-birth” or “pro-life.” I think abortion should be compulsory, especially for the sort of people who cannot think straight when confronted with opinions different from their own. That includes both sides of the political spectrum.

Couldn’t agree more. They’re as helpful to our nation as a pack of rabid children.

You have merely proven my sentiments - that liberals are just as intolerant as their political opponents. I am very much a leftist, but I think today’s liberals are terrible, terrible people.

Being pro-life - against abortion, let’s say - is a nuanced experienced, though it is expressed poorly by a few, and is politically problematic. I am “pro-choice” myself, but have understanding and compassion for pro-life sentiments, because that IS a life being ended.

I made my point, and then a bunch of angry people jumped all over me and continued to make my point for me, so I think I’ve made my point completely fine.

Tolerance is not a paradox; it’s preferring compassionate listening and discourse to shaming and belittling people. I can tell a lot of us here are still in favor of the latter.

Never did support Trump. I do support compassionate listening around complex issues like abortion. I am pro-choice.

I am not pro-life, but I can tell you’re pro-anger.

And you don’t think ad-hominems have driven political divide in this country since the 90s? I mean, you clearly haven’t evolved past them. They’re a crutch - a way to throw your anger into sharp relief while avoiding any real discussion at all. I’ll invite you to grow up.

I was happy to die on this hill, trying to encourage people to be less shitty only to unleash a storm of shittiness.

Because Alabama has no public defenders, no one who is “Pro-Life” believes in child rearing support?

Have you ever had any conservative friends? Family members? Spoken with anyone about politics outside your political bubble? Had a single conversation with those ideologically desperate from you without insulting them?

Grow up. We probably voted for the same president.

True, this is a problem across religious and political spectrums. Lead by example, I say. Try not to be a jerk. Apologize when you are one. A little maturity and compassion would go a long ways in this world.

I didn’t invent political monikers. I understand the criticism you’ve presented very well - and I think it’s slightly better than just calling someone an idiot. But it still leaves out much of the actual nuance and caring that goes on for many human beings around this issue. I don’t need to be convinced - I’ve always

This circular, self-defeating logic has been hashed out time and time again. The simple, scientifically documented reality remains, that if you want any hope of changing someone’s understanding or perspective, you need to earn their trust and treat them with respect first.

Yes. And seem generally unwilling to try and find it again. They’ll apparently shout at you and call you names before engaging in even an ounce of self-reflection.
