Covering a canal is a lot different than covering a reservoir, that said we lose way more water from reservoirs than canals, partial cover from floating panels might work. It’s not going to be cheap, but between the electricity generated and water loss prevented it might eventually justify the price tag.

Summers in the deserts Colorado river water passes through in California, Nevada, and Arizona are consistently are over 110F (43ish C) in July and August (Las Vegas, for instance averages high is over 110F for June, July and August), with over 100F (38ish C) highs about 1/3 of the year.

Oh right yes, CPL’s are of course well understood. Wink wink...

I kept thinking there was some obscure golden girls reference I couldn’t grasp.

I knew it had to be a good joke if Betty White was part of it, but I also didn’t get it until Jay spelled it out.

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever read.  So many questions.

Jesus Christ, I almost had a stroke.

Yeah, if you want something to go away/not be remembered it seems dumb to write a whole article on it. It’s kind of tasteless tweet but that was always the point and Smith has explained the point of it when he wrote it was to try and write the worst/most disgusting thing and it was a joke between him and his wife.

Reading the comments, it’s reassuring to see that most readers agree that this is dumb click bait complaining about dumb click bait. Kevin Smith’s goofy tweet is just that and nothing more. Trying desperately to spin it into some sort of pearl-clutching transgression is lazy and much worse than anything Smith did.

The guy loves his wife. Good for them.

Or as I like to call him, The Orange Buffoon!

Meh. That might be your The Tweet, but this is my The Tweet:

This article is way more cringey than that tweet ever was.

Welcome to the AV CLUB since you must be new here.

I award you a low hanging star.

Are you dick-rubbing-against-the-clit/brown/taint shaming him?

This is the first time I’ve ever wanted to ask “Why was this article written?”. It seems a little sex shamey? Sure, if he wrote that about a stranger or someone he wasn’t already in a decade long relationship with it would come across as creepy. But he wrote it about his wife. He wrote it in the same tone/voice that

oh, you sweet summer child. in a world with an entire internet you still manage to be shocked and disgusted by something as tame as Kevin Smith writing about sex like a teenager.

Low-hanging fruit, but still not nearly as childish and offensive as the average tweet coming from the bankrupt conman sitting in the White House.
