This should be the first line of the article honestly. This is ALL about Nolan getting paid.

Nolan makes 20% of theater ticket sales and WAY less on home sales/streaming, he doesn’t want them skipping theaters.  Pretty easy to see why he’s making a fuss.

Shilling is vehemently opposed to liking things. It’s his whole shtick.

MTOD is great. Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Dirt Every day, Hot Rod Garage, Faster with Finnegan, and Engine Masters are all great content with none of the “IF WE DONT FINISH THIS CAR WE”RE GONNA LOSE THE SHOP” drama.

I remember when Jalopnik used to enjoy and encourage car culture

David is a modern media genius who is manipulating us for clicks and comments. First, he buys $500 Michigan crapwagons (holy grail!). Then he blogs about his neighbors not appreciating his yard full of crapwagons. (the outrage!) And finally he blogs about how dangerous it is to drive a crapwagon. (scary!) I think

Great, so now make a homologation special and I’ll buy my first electric car.

I’m gonna grab some 1/8" steel and my Harbor Freight welder and GO TO TOWN.

What I think the real moral of the story here is the guy who was hoarding all those parts, but died before doing anything with them (using them or selling them).

OK, yeah, I took two minutes and googled up the links to these materials that honestly probably should have been in the article in the first place. ampliTex and powerRibs do not in themselves replace carbon fiber as we commonly think of it. What most people think of when they say “carbon fiber” is technically “carbon

An interesting material that may have many applications in the future. It sounds though like this is intended to be a flexible material, no? I don’t see any reference to a resin or anything else that would harden this stuff, only what sounds like two different types of fabric. That may be useful for some things, but

I’ve said it before and it bears repeating: buying a car is an emotional decision. Your brain is involved but only because that’s where all the serotonin-oozing neurons live.

Don’t be thinking small. Think BIG. Think Continental. Think New Yorker. Think Delta 88. Tbink about all those smooth-riding malaise-yachts with 150 horsepower lumps. Imagine doubling or tripling the power of one of those things and gliding along in silent splendor...

Mustang? We should be so lucky. You know KITT will be a crossover.

Correction: the S2000 is the better Miata.

Counterpoint... maybe we need to talk less about Elon Musk.

When you get down to it, AMC failed not because of products, but because of money.   They just didn’t have the money to compete with the big boys.  If they had scraped together maybe a decade more, they might have survived and not Chrysler, because of Jeep.   A lot of the legendary Jeeps that Chrysler made bank on,

I wouldn’t deal with this thing if you gave it to me for free.

With the SD4 under the engine cover a Fiero can flat out eat a Camaro’s lunch.

I’m not a lawyer or a civil engineer, but if I had to guess, I would say it means they have to cease operations (aka, open the gates, and cease power generation if hydroelectric) and/or they can no longer get insurance for exactly the kind of failure that happened here. They would either have to repair their defects
