I don’t put any stock in these systems anymore because it’s obvious that the chattering monkeys of fandom and entertainment media have figured out how to game them to...do something. Prove a point, or whatever.

Nice deal, I’d say. We’ve got a Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a on the subscription plans, but those don’t include all of the ecosystem elements.

No, it would have been at Gary Force Acura in Nashville, I believe.

Code the flight control system to a max altitude of like, 20 feet, and you won’t need a chute. It’ll still suck if you crash but at least you’ll bounce instead of spread.

You should reach out to the ad agency or to Hyundai USA and ask them how their focus group sessions went for this campaign.

I mean, this was (IIRC) an Acura dealership talking about a third-generation TL, soooo...

A car salesman told my dad once sometime in the 1990s that “you should always turn off the HVAC before you turn the car off so that it doesn’t strain the battery when you start it again.” For 25 years, I’ve been trying to convince him that this was dumb advice and unnecessary but he’s never believed me.

I’m dissenting on two points.

The very last scene, last lines of dialogue in Adventureland...possibly my favorite “Boy Gets Girl” moment in any movie. Like this explosion of chemistry and daydream and romance all in one moment.

Oh no, you are certainly not. I found it terribly entertaining.

Where do we put his Amex commercial in the ranking, because it’s pretty dang cinematic. “François!”

Fuuuuuck...I bet you shat yourself. I’ve only ever had a ND with a paintball gun and that spooked me plenty.

I watched a video by a professional shooter/movie consultant/armorer yesterday talking about the way that things are commonly done on film sets where guns are in use, and all of the basic principles you defined are routinely followed, according to her. The shock in her eyes that this could even happen spoke volumes.

To be fair, at the time, it wasn’t that far out of the realm of reasonable supposition to think that goofing around would have been the cause of this tragedy. That would make more sense than the incredible series of events that ACTUALLY transpired.

For certain his publicist & probably the studio are managing communications for him. You’re 100% correct about basic safety & handling (I’m a rangemaster & trainer for youth shooting sports), hence my original post wondering about methods & tasks for filming firearm usage, so I’m still stuck on how the shot actually

Yeah, I saw that report too, and I agree that it’s strange. There’s definitely going to be some aspect of mishandling here.

When I was a kid (1980s), I had a handful of 5.56mm (fired) blanks picked up from a National Guard demo that were of the crimped type.

I guess I don’t understand moviemaking with guns, but here’s what I’d expect out of a situation where there would be firearm discharges. I could be wrong, I’m not in the business, and I’m fine with learning I’m wrong, but...

Haha, I had a rental one of those one time that was great except for one annoying flaw and one potentially fatal flaw. Annoying...the side mirrors are weirdly small. Potentially fatal...I discovered just how bad understeer could be when I didn’t slow down enough for the Impala on a 270-degree offramp. I turned the
