I ditched SMS when I got my Android phone in summer 2010 because I previously used SMS mostly for sending Twitter & FB updates from my dumbphone. I figured out that even if I paid per SMS, I usually only would pay maybe half of the cheapest SMS plan from Verizon each month, and many months I don't use any at all.

True, although part of me always felt sorry for the tourists because it's not like you get an endearing image of a city while getting barked (or just glared) at by some staff ass.

I've always heard it explained that the street layout was designed to make it difficult for armies to invade.

Try asking a question to voice search, like "What's the capital of Zaire?" When Google returns the response in the browser, it tells you where it's pulling the info from, and in some cases, it's actually pulling from multiple sources. Not sure if WolframAlpha is specifically queried, but it might be.

That is cool. Thanks for the tip!

I saw it too. Like she was relieving herself.

It's pretty useful once you get all of your codes sorted. All we need is this + the Roku remote.

We actually paused the show and discussed it. My wife is convinced he's right, and I'm semi-convinced because we both fall on the "love Ewoks" side of the age line.

I totally agree with this. IM2 was great fun; my wife & I made a date night out of going to see it.

The first several minutes of last Friday's Clone Wars were some of the most beautiful scenes of Star Wars footage I think I've ever seen. Hardly any plot to speak of, really, but the shots of the ships descending into the atmosphere through the clouds and sunbeams were breathtaking.

Is it kid-friendly? It looks like it so far.

But at least it's David Morse. He's an actor I always appreciate watching.

Same here. My brain was going "had that. had that. had that. had that. OH SWEET, wanted that. had that."

Yeah, it's definitely true. I've read that people who go to, say, Australia and camp in the bush say it's like being on another planet in the middle of the night, the sky is so lit up.

This is going to be the Bluetooth earpiece all over again in the next couple of years.

But a Stinger doesn't have the range to reach out and pop an airliner out over the ocean, does it? It's a point-defense system...range less than three miles. And that's assuming that the shooter can locate, lock on, and fire on an airliner approaching at 500mph.

LOL. I wonder what percentage of Gizmodo defense-related articles have basic flaws like this? If it's not 70% or higher, I'd be surprised.

Maybe a bit, but in the context of the story, it was more that the character was scheduled to go to the moon on an Apollo mission that got scrubbed, so this was his only chance to make it to the moon. Nothing blew up.

Oh, one other...

I think Michelle Rodriguez's death scene in Avatar ranks alongside Biggs in SW. Taking what is essentially a utility helicopter with some guns strapped to the side into a head-to-head battle with that flying battleship, and scoring some debilitating hits on it, knowing all the while that you're going to eat it?
