I have a sneeeeeeaking suspicion that she intentionally forced herself into safety and into Varrick's enemies list so that he'd be without an assistant who could translate him and, as a result, it'd delay him making any actual progress. It seems like the best way to save her own neck without speeding up a superweapon.
