Yea, but that’s not the other guy’s fault. Don’t be an asshole; shake the guy’s hand.

Fuck that. There are no excuses for being a dipshit to your opponent despite them playing fairly and on the same ground as you.
I was sympathetic until he blamed “feminists” as some kind of boogeyman.
That was always what I thought at the time, but that fell apart once I found out he’s in Final Fantasy V as well, as a boss fight.
“Historically, Pokémon fans associate the word “rival” with “asshole.””
I mean, rivals in a lot of Pokemon games haven’t really been mean-spirited since Gold and Silver. From Ruby and Sapphire onward they’ve always been more, “Aww, darn, I lost! That was a lot of fun, though!”.
Pokemon hasn’t really used the classic “asshole rival” since Gold and Silver.
Considering Red became practically unbeatable, probably the only place where he could find someone or something to challenge him was Mt. Silver, home of the toughest Pokémon in the Kanto-Johto region. So if someone were to reach the top of the mountain while still in fighting form, he’d know they’re worth battling.
You’re literally saying Red did nothing after he became the best trainer, that’s false. He’s in Gold and Silver (and their remakes) where you can fight him on Mt. Silver where Red has been training.
Sonic Generations actually did sort of get this right. There were lots of alternate paths and things to find even in the fast Modern sections (actually, probably even moreso in there) which is part of why I love that game.
Those higher standards sure helped Metroid there.
SA was the first time in English that he is directly referred to as Eggman. But in SA2 the English canon becomes that his name is Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik. So he never stopped being Robotnik,
I think they also called him Eggman because one of the creators like the Beatles. That’s why he’s called Eggman but looks like a Walrus.
He’s always been Eggman.
but...he was Eggman from the beginning (that’s why he had a ship called the “Egg Carrier” and a base in the “Scrambled Egg Zone” and an orbital space station called the “Death Egg” and trapped little animals in giant egg-shaped prisons)... ... ...Robotnik was the name the American game manual gave him.
Robotnik was always Eggman. The U.S. Localization team gave him the relatively serious name without conferring with the Japanese studio. Eventually said studio was like “Ya know what? No. Stop doing that” and the UNswap was made.
That first video just makes me sad that we’ll never get a game where you can visit all the regions with the same character.
He’s quite the...
What’s out of context? Looker’s been a part of the Pokemon canon since Platinum and we already know what happened during Giovann’s fight with Red.
