Interestingly enough Colbert did specifically tell people to stop harassing Suey on last nights show.
The debate is worthwhile, but she's a self-promoting demagogue who lacks credibility. She claims that she is worried about her safety in response to death threats, and re-tweeted the following last night after the Colbert Report:
Oddly, the outrage over marginalization has further marginalized the discussion around the epithet 'redskins' that was where the joke first originated. So, from my own identity I do also find it problematic that Suey hijacked a discussion about American Indians.
Except he's not making a joke about asians, he's making a joke about insensitive white conservative men.
For the context, the context was completely contained in that bit. You watch the entire bit, from Dan Snyder to the reveal of the new Colbert foundation, and the context is all there. If someone watched a full episode of the Colbert Report, it's near impossible not to know the show is satire.
See, I think it's pretty clear that EVERYONE understands everything a lot better than her, because she is not smart, can't answer direct questions and shuts down like a child when she's called on her bullshit.
What is so frustrating about this is when Suey Park takes on someone like Colbert it diminishes her credibility and the very real racism that is out there. You can't yell racism at something as innocent as this was and not lose your power when someone really does say something appalling. She took her cause back many…
Or if it was based on actual racism.
I was happy with how she was treated on Huffpo. She had a really stupid idea, voiced it, got called on it and then turned into an 8 year old with her whole "i'm not going to enact the labor" bit.
Probably not as well received as fellow-PED user Big Papi, but better than all non-Big Papi black players.
It wouldn't surprise anyone if Snyder sued, because he's too stupid (apparently like you) to realize there's nothing libelous about saying someone looks like a picture or a criminal.
I'm sure they'll quickly settle into a life of domestic tranquility. She'll focus on the home. And Ray, as usual, will be happy just to get a yard.
Haha, did you actually bother to watch the play? The whole play? Not just the GIF? Morgan was set an arm's length from the Tennessee player for like a second and a half in a clearly established position. Tennessee dude power dribbled, lowered his shoulder to initiate contact, and Morgan went down. Did he sell it? Yes.…
An unnamed, unreferenced quote is an actual scientist in these parts? Hahahahaha Is the bar for Jezebel really that low?
A "cartoon villain"? I can't help but be reminded of the post from a few months ago in which Lindy described deliberately antagonizing her seatmate on a plane (bumping him, trying to take up his space) because she was annoyed with this stranger she'd never met before. Strange for another writer on this site to call…
So a person of larger build was using a public mode of transportation, behaved inconsiderately of their fellow passengers, and when their fellow passengers reacted negatively, they accused said passengers of hating persons of larger build? Now where have I heard that before.....
Yup something I find more and more on this site unfortunately.
Perhaps this woman was the worst commuter ever, but the immediate response of the man sitting next to her (to shame her for her weight, rather than her behavior) and subsequent blowback speaks to a much larger issue.
