Not to be that guy, but I think you’re referring to MRI when you describe lying motionless in a claustrophobic loud tube. CT is also a tube, but a CT scan takes seconds (often less than a second with newer scanner hardware), MR can take an hour or longer. CT is also much quieter than MR.
I believe you are confusing CT scans with MRI scans. CT scans require the patient to be motionless, but the process is relatively quick and the noise levels are low. MRI scans also require the patient to be motionless, but take longer and the noise levels are much greater, generally necessitating hearing protection.
