In regards to the Hobbit, I can only agree. Imagine an art style similar to his being used for mainstream family entertainment today? It would be mind-blowing.

Oh brother, what I wouldn't give for THAT viewing experience. Unfortunately for myself at the time, word-of-mouth amongst my group of friends meant that the genre switch in FDTD was spoiled for me waaaaay ahead of time. Didn't stop me from loving it to death, though.

How about the original failed YA adaptation, Bakshi's Lord of the Rings? As far as beautiful misfires, this is certainly a notable one.

That's the best kind of viewing experience, IMO. I try doing that with my gf, where I build up her expectations only for the rug to be pulled out under her once the movie really reveals itself. Cabin in the Woods blew her mind.

Other than the fact that The Magicians is not a YA series, despite that it revolves largely around, um, Young Adults. Concerning it's upcoming small screen adaptation, I am not optimistic.

I had the same experience with The Guest.

Yeah, somehow I doubt that flick's box-office was affected greatly by either of the films it debuted alongside. "Hmm, should I take my kids to watch the sc-fi lads comedy, the self-aware slasher film, or the YA adaptation?" Hmmmmm

In regards to Ender's Game, I would say that if bad PR generated by Card was enough to affect it's box-office, then it was never going to make enough to be successful anyway. I would say it's the Sci-Fi trappings that limited it's appeal, and it's po-faced advertising.

You're Next is my shit though, I really enjoyed that flick.

Not being American only made me fetishise this stuff more!

Enuff allready we getit the name of the movie iz That Thing U Do #bored

I FUCKING HATE That Thing You Do, largely because the ad for it was at the start of every VHS tape made between 96-99 and that goddamn part where Tom Hanks says they looks great in the different colours is burned into my consciousness.

OH COME ON! There's a reason why so many still ship Team Rocket and it's not just because Big E is the greatest human being to walk this planet.

But look where he is NOW! It's my dream to one day stand that close to Ivelisse…

R-Trizzle with the highlight! I think the main reason why he got a laugh out of me was because when he appeared my brain automatically went "Of course f*ckin Truth is in the ladder match".

I think I'm in the same boat, where most of my dislike comes from others enjoyment more so than the movie actually being that terrible.

THAT'S WHAT I DO! *puts on salmon blazer* *hops away*

Oh man, I too seriously disliked this movie when I first saw it (97? 98?) and loathe when people refer to it as a misunderstood/cult classic. It's such a superficial wankfest, I would even put something like Detroit Rock City ahead of it.

"Boyhood MILF" How dare you, give whichever Arquette that was the respect they deserve.

The NXT crowd really went too far, they're going into business for themselves at the expense of the show. We all hate EvaBot, that doesn't mean you shit on her to the extent that the segment should be derailed.
