In Handmaid’s Tale, women literally became the property of men. You really think that’s the direction the US is going? Evidence to the contrary: Kellyanne Conway was the first woman ever to lead a successful presidential campaign (Trump trusted a woman to do the most important job).

If the electors just follow orders from their “Republican overlords” why did they confirm Obama twice?

Powerful people can “stop it”? What: stop the democratically elected president from taking office? How would that be good?

?? Why would Earth Science become illegal? Sounds a little dramatic.

Wrong. There was an election. The US is a representative democracy.

Alert: We’ve been at war since 9/11/2001. Obama is the first US president to be at war for an entire eight-year double term.

China’s upset because Donald Trump had a phone conversation with the leader of a democracy, Taiwan, with 25,000,000 people and its own currency which is not allowed into the UN because...China says so. Isn’t it troubling that no one is standing up for the little guy in this scenario? China is big and scary so we

Why the dig at men here? If anything, it seems there’s a tendency to see kids as the property of women, no?

We’ll have to tune in...

David Duke received 3% of the vote in Louisiana’s Senate race. There’s something else at play in Trumpism other than simple racism.

Thanks for the bibliography ideas.

That’s an interesting thought experiment re: Russia invading Canada. Since, after Castro’s death, I read an article from a major Canadian paper saying the reason Canadians felt so warmly toward Castro was that he “tweaked the eagle’s beak,” I’d be half tempted to let the Canucks deal with the Russians by themselves.

I’m not as alarmed that an unpalatable candidate won the presidency as I would be if we DIDN’T have an election. That’s when I would start soiling my undergarments. Or, if Trump suddenly suggests that maybe we could suspend parts of the Constitution...just for a while.

You’ve given enough to whet the appetite, but not satisfy it. What do you mean that democratic governance has been systematically sabotaged? voter ID’S, gerrymandering? These seem like pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme.

Not giving “racists” any type of platform sounds a lot like censorship. Great as long as your side is in power and gets to determine who the “racists” are. Statements like, “Kill all XYZ people” may be easily discerned as racist, but what about, “Immigration should be slowed down.” Is the latter statement racist?

Police brutality doesn’t just fall out of the sky though. If African-American males were a 19,000,000 person country of their own, it would rank #16 in the world in homicides (6265 murders).

You’re the second woman I know who has singled out Korea as being a not-so-great place for (foreign) women.

In 2015, there were 495 white people killed by police, 61 of whom were either unarmed or holding a toy weapon. Were their stories told over and over again? I can’t think of a single one.

On as related note, why have I never seen a story titled something like “10 Great Things About Being Black!” (or Being a Woman, etc). Is it really just 100% negative? Oops, did I just ask strangers to help me understand something? How typical.

Agree except about the part about “little substantive change” for POC in movies. Seriously? Except for the explosion in the number of non-white faces on screen: M. Freeman, D. Washington, W. Goldberg, Oprah, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Jackie Chan, Sandra Oh, V. Davis, Rosario Dawson, et al., et al...Inarittu’s
