Obama was almost completely unknown in ‘08: a junior Senator from a flyover state whose book publishers, until ‘07, listed him as being born in Kenya. It was hers to lose.

Or, Obama’s victories could indicate that America really isn’t as racist as everyone thinks.

Americans have by no means cornered the market n racism. Look at Asia. They are still almost purely homogenous populations. Do they stay that way because no one wants to move there? No. They control immigration hardcore and have blood-line citizenship requirements. Do you know any Japanese people? If so, ask…

I think there may have been a line of thinking (w/in HRC’s team) that they needed a mandate-type margin of victory, thus tried to run up the score in Blue States.

Respectfully disagree that most voters don’t pay attention until the last 10-14 days. This soap opera ran for over a year and received unusually high ratings throughout. The media wouldn’t have kept pumping it if not.

I don’t think all Muslims are terrorists, but I know some are. You think Trump is a danger to free press, what about Islamic gunmen who literally enter a newspaper and kill reporters a’la Charlie Hebdo massacre? Is that not worth considering?

If Obama had any pull with the IRS, he should’ve got on the horn and told them to wrap up their audit tout suite. A nice public announcement that The Donald’s audit was completed would’ve really jammed him up.

BINGO. That was #1 on my list, immediately post-election, of things that Trump did to win. (1) Lead the Dance...(2) Keep It Simple Stupid...(3) Populism...(4) Outsider Status...(5) Scapegoating.

Start with a younger (hopefully outsider-type) candidate. Carter was 53 when elected; WJC was 46; Barack also 46.

Trump had a woman as the head of his campaign (Kellyanne Conway), he happily held up a rainbow flag at one of his rallies, and did (and continues to) reach out to POC (David Clarke, Ben Carson, Bob Johnson, Kanye West, Tsai Ing-wen...).

A campaign is a job interview. The citizens are the HR dept. There is no objective scoring.

Please. Racial sensitivity in America has been honed to the point where an innocent mistake is lifted to the level of a grief-inducing hate crime.

White people were flying their “racist flag” yet David Duke won only 3% of the vote in his Deep Red state of Louisiana’s Senate race.

And, one of the politicians he claims to have “bought” was Hillary. She attended his wedding, and he gave her $8,700 (IIRC).
