People who do tough dirty work for a living NEED a chrome-plated, $57,000 Sierra HD? Hmmmmm

I think we all realize that trucks are necessary for lots of jobs, and are thankful for their utility.

LOP at a real farmer moving produce with a light duty pickups. 300 round trips with an open bed later and his produce has all rotted.

Vans are more practical for pretty much everything you just mentioned.

I hate the alarmist half truths here. Yes the average loan is long. But the average ownership time is much longer. And the average car on the road is older. So the question is are long loans bad if people are paying them off and holding on to cars longer? In my opinion no, and with a complete picture we are able to

Exactly. I used to rush to pay my cars off and/or buy with cash until I realized that I was pouring capital down a depreciating hole. Now I’m happy to stretch payments out as far as possible so I can direct more money toward investments. Why pay the bank more sooner when I can pay myself first? At ultra low loan rates,

Thank you.

Shitty boomer David Ramsey advice. I’m not going to tie up $12k in some used car if my credit union will finance it at 2.75%.

I don’t get why people complain about new cars with boring, characterless engines, but when a company goes nuts and puts a high strung engine, that revs to the moon, they complain that its too complicated, too much maintenance, too unreliable.

Tavarish can put on some flip-flops and kick a bag of rocks.

Worst click bait ever!!!

Tavarish wouldn't be Tavarish if he bought cars that have been cared for. He's scraping the bottom of the barrel, and that's his "thing".

You’re missing the idea here. Maybe his primary point of contention was reliability of these motors; but they are performance-oriented. You can’t compare the longevity of a Toyota truck’s motor to that of a BMW. I’d assume you have the 22RE 4-cylinder or 3.4 V6? Because the 3.0s were absolute garbage. That being said,

I’ve driven corollas and I’ve driven BMWs, having done both, I’ll gladly take the possibility of being stranded on the road side with a BMW over having to drive such a mind numbing, soul sucking vehicle. That being said, I’ve owned a few 10+ year old BMW’s and have never been left stranded once. Maybe I’m lucky… but I

Every BMW I have owned (4 of them) has had over 200k miles on them. I have never had any engine problems. Maybe try buying BMW’s that have been cared for and haven’t been beat to death?

On a side note older BMW engines (pre-vanos) are reliable as fuck m10, m20, m30, m42, m44

So your advice after owning multiple BMW’s bought from poors who can’t afford to maintain them is: “Stick to old MB’s bought from poors on craigslist”?

Weird, never had any real issues with mine
