I’ve don’t borrow money for cars. So the interest rates are immaterial to me. However if they bring down the sale price I’ll take it.

When I built my garage I wired it with large enough conductors for a single 100 amp or two 50 amp level 2 chargers at the front of the main two parking spots. That was 10 years ago. And I still don’t have one. I just expected I would own one at some point. I’m sure I will. I thought EV or PHEV SUVs and trucks would…
The big power difference is low in the RPM range. The twin turbo V6 from Toyota already makes twice as much power at 2000 RPMs as the 5.7 l did at 2,000 RPMs. When you add the hybrid my guess is you’re more than tripling the off idle torque.
Fwiw - I hope you're right and it's a lot cheaper than I think it will be. But I'm not very optimistic given how expensive the tundra is.
The current Sequoia Platinum model base price is $70k. The tundra went up by 5 to $10,000 at every comparable model from the old one. I assume that they will apply roughly the same increase plus the hybrid cost. That puts a Sequoia Platinum 4x4 at $80-85 before any options. I think that the Sequoia capstone will be +…
A solid axle is much better at distributing weight evenly between the two tires. Especially on uneven terrain. Independence suspension has a lot of benefits. This is the one place where it doesn’t work very well. If you work through the math of a 2-point load on a beam as compared to independent loads and then apply a…
It def compromised interior space for durability and off-road capability. For me that’s a good trade. For people wanting an extra big minivan without a sliding door (95% of full size SUV buyers) that’s probably not a popular choice. But the Sequoia has always been an also-ran. Solid axle choice really differentiates…
$4 gas also helps on the EV decision. I work from home. I’ve wanted to find a way to justify an EV as an extra car. But I wouldn’t road trip with it and it couldn’t be my only vehicle. So other than towing and road trips I buy a tank in my SUV about every 8-10 weeks. I’d never offset the production emissions by saving…
Acoustic windshield is also common in Toyota models. Is a Camry a luxury car? It has acoustic glass. For $28k.
Hopefully it at least opens on the Sequoia ! They kept it for the tundra. I can’t see it not staying for the 4Runner.
Sequoia has longer travel suspension given the longer control arms. Sequoia gets multi stage internal bypass Fox shocks. Sequoia has more power. Sequoia will probably have a bigger rear axle than the LC (wider and larger differential size, body is obvious - the
Capstone will be $95-105k. Base is likely about $55k. That's more expensive than the Land Cruiser 300 at all trim levels. Land Cruiser 300 starts at $46k and goes to about $85k.
It’s 2" wider than a Land Cruiser. Basically a Land Cruiser 300 with a plus 2 long travel kit. I don't see a problem vs the Land Cruiser.
It’s the same platform and better in almost every way in including more suspension travel, more power, nicer interior, and it’ll be more expensive across all trim ranges. And it comes in a TRD pro suspension that is more expensive components than KDSS. Not sure of it's better.
I didn’t calculate myself. Guessing the data the comparison uses is transaction prices in 2018 that would be below MSRP for the Camry and full MSRP for the model 3. Also in the USA current 2018 Camry hybrid average used retail value is $30,298. In 2018 the MSRP was 28,685. So a Camry hybrid is now 105% of its original …
Even worse - getting a kid into a child seat back there. At least get the 4Runner for halfway decent rear room and access. But - as a 4runner owner, mpg is not good. And it's not a great family car because the interior is small relative to the overall size. The Highlander is a much better family wagon if you don't tow…
I’d go base model Sequoia - $60k, hybrid, 437hp and almost 600ft lbs, good mpg, excellent interior, off road chops, and in budget!
I don't think Tesla could decontent any more on its cars unless it only sold them with 3 wheels or took half the steering wheel off... Wait a minute.
You are a perfect person for an ev. Not many people drive 2500 miles a month.
They depreciate roughly the same rate as a Camry. You can compare 2017 models of each for sale used vs MSRP and see fit yourself. Used prices are up across the board. It's not unique to Tesla. Model 3 depreciation is about 44% after 5 years.
