I remember there being an article published at the time about the S10 Blazer being a death trap. I believe if I remember correctly the data showed that occupants of the S10 Blazer were 25 times as likely to die for every mile driven as those in a Toyota 4Runner at the same time. Not a typo, literally 25 people died in

Id ban cars. They’re too dangerous to be out on the highway with SUVs. And no one wants cars anymore anyway. So let’s just get it over with now. Cars can go where it safe for them - like bicycle lanes.

I think this video is pretty conclusive evidence that Toyota’s new force field is functional.

Unfortunately I occasionally have to leave my private roads and operate on public roads with the unwashed masses. So I can’t always avoid crashes. I’ve never been at fault in a crash (not counting organized racing events - used to race off road trucks, been upside down enough for a lifetime doing that.) I have been

The data is corrected for use - miles driven and registered vehicle years. Even if you don’t want it to be. Not liking the data =\= invalid data.

The iihs publishes it. You can see for yourself. SUVs are safer.

Fewer occupants die in SUVs per mile driven. And they have lower occupant insurance injury payouts. Depends on how you define safe. I’ll take less likely to die or be injured when choosing where to put my family.

It’s hard to know what the person is saying. They said

GX isnt that big. It feels big because it’s pretty heavy. But it’s small compared to a Tahoe/escalade etc. It’s only a 110" wheelbase. That’s shorter than a Ford edge or about 5" longer than a Forester. Interior is probably the same as a Forester or close to it.

My 07 Lexus IS350 had the headlight washers too. And powered rear sun shade. They’re still on most models of Lexus as an option. But I don’t think they’re very common anymore. My RX350 doesn’t have them. It’s a mid level trim.

Open rules, AWD would be faster. Even in F1. Lmp1 cars easily out run F1 in acceleration. And when they run without the lmp1 handicaps they're faster on the same tracks than F1 cars. You can see that for example when Porsche modified the 919 to go fast without the fia limits it set lap times faster than F1 cars on the

Are you honestly arguing that the rules don’t ban awd? Or that it wasn’t used and didn’t win races?

That’s true. There were ALSO AWD cars.

So strong enough to matter but not strong enough to matter?

This is real physics. If you actually want to learn I’ll try to teach you. If you want to figure it out on your own calculate the threshold of motion force under uniform brake force and uniform rotational velocity deceleration. Now assume a dynamic surface such that the static friction under each tire is different.

How do you suggest they address the lack of lateral resistance foil or other hull form on the ship? That's going to be needed if you want to sail any off angle to the wind.

In this case the boats don’t have foils. Imagine tacking up wind with no keel or centerboard. And the ships lack the necessary righting moment, so anywhere but directly down wind is really dangerous. A gust of wind and you'll have a lot of containers in the water.

It’s generally called "apparent wind". Google it. It'll make a lot more sense why it won't work.

What wind speed vs boat speed are you assuming? How likely do you think you'll have that wind speed directly behind the boat? And how much righting moment do you think the cargo ship has if the wind changed direction?

My thoughts exactly. I've seen the same idea a dozen times. As a sailor, it is obvious it won't work for the reasons you said. It's fundraising fraud or just foolishness.
