I think the grill might actually be functional on this one. The cooling system on the twin turbo V6 is enormous. For starters it cools the exhaust gases before they ever reach the turbos, so It pulls a lot of heat out for that. And then it also has a separate independent cooling system for the turbos themselves with

I think it’s safe to say yes, this will be the base engine for the new Tundra. And it will have a hybrid option with more power and possibly a PHEV or BEV version as well. I’d expect at least 500-550hp and north of 600 tq for the hybrid. We’ll have to wait and see on that.

450lbs of weight loss is what the LC needed. That IMO is a BIG deal. Combined with the extra power - this thing should be fantastic to drive. Sad we won’t see it in the USA in any form other than LX570 that is rumored to be more like $200k for the next gen and probably be hybrid only and 600hp.

The engine is very different from most, so it should be super reliable. The biggest thing I see in the engine design is that exhaust manifold is entirely within the head, and it is cooled on a separate cooling circuit. So the exhaust temps should be way down before they ever get to the turbo “hot side” that may become

The term SJW is a generally derogatory term for people who do not actually pursue or want objective social justice. They generally seek specific non-equal treatment for their chosen special interest groups or causes. For example just look above a few comments to ellomdian. He expresses in his comment that he finds joy

It’s easy to blame cops and ignore the environment we create for them to operate in. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes... We aren’t going to see a breakdown of the closed social network when the system is designed to hire a warm body at lowest possible wage and then expect them to perform like seasoned professionals.

The typical wage of an Arkansas state trooper who would be out on patrol (ASP Trooper job title) is around $40k. Who else is going to do that kind of shitty job for that $40k? I don’t disagree that the job attracts a certain demographic and that is one of the root causes of a lot of problems. But if we as a society

Snowflakes like smaug are just so easy to troll. The hate runs so deep you just have to tickle a bit and it flows like lava. Just look how deeply invested he’s become. It’s funny.

Your skin is as thick as rice paper. Lol. Your intellect even thinner.

I think they nailed it on this. Ford is really bringing its A game lately. It’s refreshing to see. This truck is probably the first real threat to the Tacoma. The Big3 can’t go head to head with the Tacoma very well, but they can sell a decent little trucklet for half the price - and take a ton of Tacoma buyers in

It’s possible that it could use a liquefaction process that’s more efficient than piston compressor pumps. But I’d expect that to be even slower. I’m sure Tesla stans will then claim that Musk invented the Linde process...

Toyota 4runner. Yes, people say it's very reliable, but it's actually still better than advertised. 200k+ miles with no repairs is the norm. Even compared to my land cruisers, the 4runners have been bulletproof. They just never have issues. In 20+ years of owning at least one in the fleet, I've never once had an

My bet is that the plaid+ was slower. The extra battery weight wasn't overcome with the extra power because of traction limits or something along those lines. Or they couldn't get the range that was promised.

Yes!!! This is such a bizarre bro trend. It's also illegal. Just needs to be enforced. Open wheels are not legal. And they're usually over the legal width too.

I think there are very few that are legal and similarly dangerous. You simply cannot see out of these trucks. They may have poorly defined the law targeting the problem. It's pretty crude language. But the problem is real. And it should be illegal to not be able to see over the hood.

Maybe you do. Typical teacher salaries would be around $50-60k (average in NM is $55k). So $120k combined. And that's for a 3/4 time job, so most have another summer job. Living at the edge of the res is probably damn near free. The budget could probably go a lot higher.

Agreed on the UCAs. It’s WAY overdue. Hopefully they’ll be for sale at the parts counter for a reasonable price too. The lca has plenty of adjustment range, but most of it goes way into the negative caster range. Never really understood the engineering on that. Move that ball joint 1cm back and add about 10* of angle

Unless Americans go back to single person contractors going alone to work with little or no tools and commercial vans disappear, the regular cab is never coming back. Even for work trucks, if you ever need to bring a crew, the crew cab was named for it. And almost all work trucks I see use the rear for tool storage

Also, yeah I agree it is way overdue for an update. Just pointing out why it’s still popular and had such a good resale value.

Tundra is typical Toyota. Built forever. It is a big block 5.7 (4.6" bore spacing and water jacket between cylinders) has 6 bolt bridge style main bearings, etc. It’s built very different from a typical small v8. The rest is the same; wheel bearings are bigger than an f250. The rear axle is the same size as an f250.
