Why does it seem that sometimes my pieces fall immidiatly out of my control?

Why dors it seem that sometimes 4 or 5 pieces will come down at once?

For a long time it was battle toads third level, but I just got to play through all of Celest, and let me tell you, C-side summit almost broke me. That level is insane.
