I don’t mean to “one up” you but me and my 8 year daughter walked into our garage to catch and see her nana giving poppy a hummer. Try explaining that to my daughter. She shakes their hands now, as she refuses to kiss either one of them upon greeting them.

If the pumpkin ain’t connected to the ground, it’s already dead, right? I’m not telling a corpse it’s going to die.

The two best meals I have been made this past week:

How does John Mayer even get so much play? I mean...

I think it says a lot about Marc Trestman's NFL tenure when his career highlight in the US was being name dropped on "30 Rock" back when he was still a CFL coach

Any other idealists feeling disappointed tonight by people's apathy toward science and space exploration? I read a thread the other day where people were saying that space exploration is a waste of money and effort. I don't even have the energy to tell them how many ways they are wrong anymore. I just want to write,

And that's the genius of the joke, it plays both ways equally well. Like a picture of a vase that turns into two heads who are actually rapists.

Mail order chicks is less weird than it initially sounds. The Post Office has been shipping chicks for decades and the business that do this have protocols for making sure the chicks stay warm enough etc. I am assuming this guy ordered these from a mail order poultry company and didn't just throw some chicks in a box.

Yeah... don't do this. Drop him as a friend. He probably knows you adore him and he feeds off of it. For halloween, you could be a vampire, like you're friend.. except he drains you of emotions instead of blood.

As if the "Thanks, Obama" crap weren't enough, my boss, when forced to update the lighting in a display to LED, told me he'd like to "Punch Al Gore right in the face." Um. Really? Because being a little bit NOT a resource-wasting asshole is such a terrible thing? Cripes.

Which is why adult women do need to be mentors and examples whenever possible to younger women and girls. For them to even see different women happy and succeeding is so important to their development and to breaking this destructive cycle of being something one is not.

I have a female friend now who I cherish so much. She likes many of the same things I like. We go to geeky cons and she even dresses up in costumes! We play boardgames. She lets me go on and on and on about Fenris and how he dumped me while I was still in my fucking underwear on my bed, and how I stole Alistair's

Absolutely. There's so much pressure to not ever get angry, or else be perceived as some trivial chick who's complaining about something dumb and harshing everyone's mellow. (And it's even worse if you're a woman of color showing anger.) But it's socially acceptable for men to unleash anger—even violent anger.

I love Amy Schumer for essentially declaring that the male attraction to the Cool Girl is basically just veiled homoeroticism.

To me, the central and most problematic aspect of the "Cool Girl" trope is the idea that this type of woman is always easy going and never angers. This part of the performance can do serious damage to your self-esteem - it makes you diminish the importance of your own emotions and instincts. There were a few

Mulholland Drive is phenomenal. Yes, it has that "isn't this weirrrrd stuff blowing your mind, mannnnnn?" that ruins a lot of Lynch's stuff. But it has a plot that actually makes sense in a linear way if you take 10 minutes to piece it together. Also, Naomi Watts has literally never been better.

Hey all. I just wanted to give lots of thanks to all those who replied to my bad-boy-obsession-themed Saturday Night Social post. You all gave incredibly useful and insightful advice and it was my first advice-seeking Saturday night post where literally no one ended up giving me a mean/judgmental reply. Usually there

That's because our Midwestern cuisine is alarmingly high in animal fats and cheeses and almost completely devoid of dietary fiber...

she's suuuuper CUTE!
