If you lease them, they stay within warranty and you don’t really have to care about minor scuffs or dings. The crowd that wants these cars likes having new things so they probably aren’t too concerned about long term maintenance or the actual price tag.

That’s why GM and Ford left 2 door coupes in the late 90's. They weren’t prestigious enough to be proper “personal luxury coupes”

Don’t forget the 90's Thunderbird, Lincoln Mark VIII, or Mercury cougar - Not that this excuses GM, but you should at least not paint them as the only ones out of touch with the market

You may run into export law issues. If the government has never recognized that it was legally imported into the country, they may prevent it from being exported. I am not familiar in any way with Hong Kong export laws (or any export laws for that matter), but I can imagine that a customs agent may decide you do not

Small issue with the understeer situation. You already have broken traction with the front wheels, losing traction with the rear wheels will likely make the situation worse.

I completely agree, it should be easier to do when necessary. The question will be whether the cost of the improved materials build faster than the number of materials and likely increased labor hours of a 6+ speed transmission.

That’s a lot of confidence in CVTs. Honda’s new accord’s CVT has recieved high praise from most journalists. It will be interesting to see if it lasts like consumer reports says it will.
