Electric cars might be the future but I doubt it will be done with lithium batteries alone. Hybrids are a lot better than they used to be and even hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are demonstrating practicality. There was that hydrogen powered semi-truck and the hydrogen powered chevy colorado!

TBH, $30K is still more money than I’m able to spend on a car right now, electric or not. I got my Cruze sedan for $17.5K after taxes (thanks to some healthy dealer competition and GM family discount) and it is exactly as much car as I need right now. I don’t think I could justify spending around twice that amount…

I can’t remember where I saw it, but I heard of a guy with a diesel cruze who got 70 mpg (US). That’s really impressive for any car.

They did. Kinda. The trucks are hitting the sign, not the historic bridge. The sign is reinforced to protect the bridge. Any damage to the bridge structure would force the rail traffic to halt.
