Ooof yeah I’m gonna have to figure something out. Maybe get a friend to drive me back? The place I’m going to is about 2 hours away from where I live hmmmm.....well I’ve got time to figure it out. That’s really good advice though. I’ve got a bunch of lush bath bombs a friend gave me so maybe I’ll have one ready just

Thanks! Yeah I haven’t had kids so I’ll have to keep Skyla in mind. This has been so illuminating, seriously big thank you to all of you.

So we’re all agreed that this ‘source’ is really Taylor’s people right? Cause those are some specific reasons for someone who doesn’t want her relationships to be ‘public’.

That is a relief to hear! Especially with copper IUD’s. I’m so on the fence about which one to get.....I figure I’ll wait to see what the doctor has to say. Cutting out the hormone part sounds great but not sure how I feel about heavier periods....

That’s amazing you didn’t have to pay co-pay!

Thanks for the help! It’s been so nice hearing from everyone, definitely a huge comfort. Somehow in my circle of friends I don’t know many people who’ve used IUD’s so it’s not something I’ve heard about from first hand experience. And thanks for the last part, wouldn’t have considered that!

Thanks for the advice! I’m kind of getting excited about this, despite the whole insertion bit. Btw your username is fantastic!

Yeah my impression is that the least side effects have been with the hormonal IUD’s and I’m more comfortable with that since they are localized.

Were dilating meds something that they prescribed to you before the insertion?

Hmmmm that does give me something to consider. I honestly don’t know much about diaphragms though I guess I always had the impression they were a hassle. But the fact that they worked with two very unique fellas, that’s a pretty good endorsement.

And oh man I laughed so hard at ‘broke condoms as though they were

This is good! This will most likely be me soon so this is good to hear. Was it really obvious that they put it in wrong? Like you noticed it hurt way too much and went back in or they knew right away and fixed it the same day?

Anyways I’m glad you are doing well with it! I hope you keep having a good experience. It’s

Yeah I’m slightly more comfortable with Mirena and the others in that it seems like it doesn’t affect you as much since it’s localized. I’ve just heard horror stories with the pill of women dealing with depression, skin problems, weight fluctuation. But the IUD’s seem to not have that problem since it’s localized.

I’m

Yeah even from the thread it sounds like that is the norm. I kind of live in the boonies in Japan so I’ll have to go in during the weekend anyways which works out best I think all around. I imagine I’ll be fine by the end of the day but at least I’ll have Sunday just in case!

Just out of curiosity was there any reason

Thanks! I hadn’t heard many person experiences with a copper IUD so this is nice. I definitely would prefer a long lasting contraceptive that is one and done. I was wary about copper IUD’s because I had heard of complications in the past but it’s nice to hear that you are having a good experience with it. Definitely

Yeah honestly I can’t imagine missing it. It just occurred to me what a change that will be to not have it around anymore!

Hahaha oh yeah I am very much looking forward to that test run!

I wouldn’t even mind slight cramps or light bleeding, if that’s what I ended up with. Still better than the alternative!

I’m hoping the women’s clinic nearby will have some practice inserting them. I’ve heard good things about them so fingers crossed. I’m kind of excited now, though! Which is great cause before it

Phew yeah it sounds like it depends on who is inserting it. I don’t have a lot of options where I live on where I can get it done but everything I’ve heard about the women’s clinic nearby has been positive so I’m hopeful.

I have a feeling it will be like my experience with the Diva cup, like why the hell didn’t I do

I’ll most likely get it done on a Saturday so I’ll at least have the Sunday to recover. Hopefully I won’t need to take Monday off but at the very least I think I could get away with taking some emergency leave in the morning and coming in during the afternoon.

I’m glad you don’t have to deal with shitty periods

Thanks! Yeah I keep hearing Mirena, it’s definitely the one everyone seems to recommend. I guess one of the things with the IUD that made me nervous was that it sounded too good to be true, like could all these worries and problems really be solved so easily?

But hey if there is an easier fix and better than why not

Thank you! This was super helpful! And yeah I’m a little nervous about the insertion but my general outlook on pain is if it at least has an end point and whatever comes after is worth it, I can do my best to grin and bear it.

And it sounds worth it! It’s always just comforting to hear other people’s positive
