If you want a cop comedy that feels like it takes place in the real world, with depth and excellent acting, that's Barney Miller.

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Apr. 10 - Greg started quickly in DJ to open a clear lead, with misses by champ Pat on DD2 and the last clue of the round ensuring a runaway for Greg with $17,200. Coming up just short were Pat at $7,700 and Maren with $7,100.

I assume that life could be make difficult for someone in showbiz who brought serious accusations against a head of an entertainment conglomerate.

I found it curious that they're airing an "animated imaginary friend" show with three kid actors at 9:30, since I'd expect that to be more of a family show.

Although it was only the fake Ms. Grundy who was hot.

Chuck Jones and co. did it because they thought it was funny, because no one was breathing down their necks to elevate the content of their cartoons. But in the early 60s networks and sponsors were very sensitive to criticism about the content of children's programming.

Not to placate the FCC but to possibly forestall governmental action by showing that they could self-police.

On Smithsonian Channel's "Real Mad Men of Advertising" about the 50s, they had a segment devoted to Howdy Doody and how he was the most extraordinarily successful pitchman of his era. Fits in with MAD's portrayal of kiddie shows as shameless vehicles for pushing sugar and toys on kids.

Liz vs. Vicki on Super Password - now there would have been an explosive match. Not sure if Bert would have come out of it in one piece.

They've done that for many years. Used to be hosted by Todd Newton. It's slow as hell.
