Yep. Republicans turned out for the Republican, as they always do, while Democrats couldn't get quite enough of their base to turn out. Pathetic given the stakes of this election, but not that unusual.

Ah yes, remember the good old days of the GOP primaries when he seemed open to providing health care and spoke positively about Planned Parenthood?

Best case: it will be another Reagan or GWB situation, with a figurehead mouthing words while the usual awful crew runs things behind the scenes.

In the modern era, personality of the candidate probably plays more of a part in determining electoral success than ideology, which helps explain the success of the charismatic Obama and Bill Clinton where Gore, Kerry and Hillary fell short.

I also wonder what percentage of attendees at a typical Springsteen concert are Trump supporters, despite that Bruce utterly rejects what Trump stands for.

Do liberals believe things "inevitably change for the better"? After seeing us go from Nixon to Reagan to GWB to Palin to Trump?

Yes, the idea that teenagers of the sixties would be supporters of someone like Trump today would have been laughably absurd at the time.

"Their problems can finally be addressed by their champion."

I could use a good place to move to right about now.

There's a ton of them to be downloaded at various old-time radio sites, too.

Network Ratings Roundup (Wednesday edition):

Ditto the Jack Benny Program, especially at its peak from around 1936-42.

Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Nov. 9 - The Teen Tournament kicked off with Porter finding all three DDs and missing every one. Meanwhile, Lily built up a lead in DJ that went largely unchallenged with $13,000 going into FJ, Apurva in striking position at $7,800 and Porter with $5,300

They originally anticipated That's My Bush! was going to be about the Gore family, too.

Network Ratings Roundup (Tuesday edition):

As of 10 Eastern stocks are about flat.

As Nate Silver pointed out, it doesn't take all that big of a polling error to miss this outcome, which is why he gave Trump about a one-in-three chance. Even when a whole lot of polls are saying the same thing, they all could be making the same mistake.

The only consolation I can take out of this is that looking back to 2000, if Gore had become President, who knows if he would have been reelected and if not, if we would have gotten President Obama. Bush's installation, as sickening as it was at the time, set the circumstances in motion to pave the way for Obama.

I'll interpret that as hoping you and all reporters stay safe out there.

Yep.
