Well, you're right, it is a bit generous. I'm not suggesting that those "two or three per season" would be indistinguishable from a classic-era show, but at least wouldn't be shockingly out of place as most modern episodes would be.

When I've been asked "Do you watch (lousy show X)", I try to skate by with lame responses such as "Oh, I've heard a lot about it" or "I'm way behind on my TV viewing" and listen politely while they tell me about something I'll never watch in a million years.
I find that when it comes to Louise, Gene and Linda, the quality of the writing becomes exceptionally important. Since they are intentionally loud, grating characters, their dialogue has to be consistently funny lest they start to wear out their welcome.
My personal favorite Klaus moment is when he was trapped in an Atlantic City hotel room, forced to listen to the in-house promotions channel for days on end. Who else could that ever happen to but Klaus?
In a typical modern-day Simpsons season, they usually throw in two or three episodes that wouldn't feel way out of place in the classic era. Tonight's is one of them.
Instead of a Family Guy-style gag, it was closer to when Colbert is about to say something the lawyers disapprove of and the booth cuts to a "technical difficulties, please stand by" card.
Yeah, also seemed to me that there was more material to be mined out of Peter being great at the forklift, might have been a missed opportunity.
Hostages: "Unless it gets renewed for a second season. Oh God, what if it gets renewed for a second season?"
Granted, but blowing a 28 point lead in less than a half is still inexcusable, and pissing away the time outs was pure Andy-ball.

Yes, you did. You had the under in the bag the whole way.
A terrible Eagles loss, but at least Andy Reid's team had a meltdown for the ages, so the day wasn't a total waste.
So far this season, BB has received two As, two A-s, three B+s and one B-. A pretty even distribution by A.V. Club's grade-inflated standards.
I'm pretty sure Bobby Thomson has been used on Jeopardy! multiple times in the past, too.
Jeopardy! thread for Fri., Jan. 3 - Lee jumped out to a big lead in the first round, but champ Sarah stormed ahead early in DJ by hitting the last four clues in the “Quotable Plays” category, including a DD. Sarah went on to hold the lead going into this Final:
Yeah, they put out a lot of really cool music in the mid-to-late 60s, after their prime hit-making period. Amazing how so many of their great songs are still relatively unknown.
