If you want to make a license to use a firearm (no license is needed to own a car) the same as a license to use a car, go right ahead. Among other things, that would mean that you would not need a license to use a firearm on private property with the permission of the owner; your license to use a firearm would be good

Go read Justice Scalia’s opinion in _DC v. Heller_ again. The government cannot ban commonly owned weapons. Since the AR-15 is the most widely owned rifle in America, that would say that banning it runs afoul of the Second Amendment.

Go read Justice Scalia’s opinion in _DC v. Heller_. He answers your questions.

If you limit the Second Amendment to muskets, then you must limit the First Amendment to hand-run printing presses. No CNN for you!

Define “assault weapon”.

Absolutely incorrect. Gun owners are the only group that it’s acceptable for liberals to hate.

The Second Amendment is not about hunting, unless you include hunting tyrants.

When the Second Amendment was adopted, it was not unheard of for private citizens to own *cannon and warships*. To argue that it does not now cover “weapons of war” (itself a massively silly statement; *any* weapon is a weapon of war) is just plain ignorant of history.

They haven’t backed off. They tried backing off of one thing, and it didn’t change the basic calculus.

That Land Cruiser would rescue any of David Tracy’s Jeeps and look fantastic doing it.

I haven’t gone Googling comps, but this one seems well-put-together and in fine shape otherwise. 50% more power never hurts unless you’re driving a 911 Turbo. (*stomp*SKREEEEE!!!*crunch*) Yeah, I’d drop 40 large on it. NP.

Maintaining a Mercedes isn’t that bad if you stay on top of it. I had a W210 wagon with 4Matic that I loved.

What he needs is today’s NPOCP Lexus LS430. Or if he really wants AWD and not an SUV, an E- or C-class Mercedes with 4Matic will do nicely. The maintenance expenses aren’t htat high if you just stay on top of them.

Smile when you say that, podnuh. I’ve been an XM customer since the fall of 2001, one of the first 25,000 customers they ever had. (They’re up into the millions.) Satellite radio has two things going for it: endless variety and the ability to find any kind of programming you want anywhere along the back roads of the

Eh, air suspensions are more trouble than they’re worth. Lots of folks who own high-end Mercedes S-class sedans rip out the air suspensions when they crap out. It’s not an unreasonable thing to do.

For $11K, I’d do that just to flip the car. The outlay is minimal.

A flagship Toyota? 90K miles? With the air to coilover suspension conversion already done? And the timing belts? $11K? Hell yes. All day every day and twice on Sundays.

My motorcycle-riding friend tells me that price is low enough that she wonders if it’s stolen or has something wrong with it. Based on that, NP.

Yeah, I was on the fence about it but the provenance did it for me in the end. A car with this kind of history for $7K? Sure, why not?

Corvairs only want to kill you if you decide Chevrolet didn’t know what it was talking about when they said to inflate the rear tires to 14 PSI. If you follow their instructions about the damn car, it’s a fun driver that doesn’t want to kill you at all.
