What I don’t understand is why I want a Series X. I have a top tier PC, a PS4, and  an Xbox One. The Xbox sits unloved and unused. Yet for some reason I’m really compelled to buy a Series X. I like the design. I’m sure it will be a decent performer. I don’t need it, but dammit, they are really selling me on it.

I know the exact model you have. My mom had a Saturn Aura of the same design. I was able to gently pry the housing over the edge of the fender after loosening things and was able to replace the bulb without dismantling the whole car. Such a stupid design for a commonly replaced item.

Problem is that these aren’t marketed to kids. They are marketed to adults age 18-40. They used to be kids and now they are grown up and don’t want a Fisher-Price looking console anymore. Even Nintendo who aims at a lower target audience with it’s Switch has offered a more toned down design.

My guess would be there are some contractual obligations to keep it going for a certain amount of time. That and while they did a certain volume I’m sure it was backed by heavy fleet sales and incentives. 

I believe their last trick involved using the lightning port to usb into the device and brute force passwords until the system unlocked as somehow that didn’t trigger a lockout and wipe of the device. Exactly. Everything today is color coded and one way to plug in. There’s millions of resources for helping to make selections and videos for assembly and parts are available everywhere.
