The way the online works in the remaster is weird. You have to disconnect and reconnect between every dungeon, and only the host gets credit for the dungeon.

I recall hearing somewhere that the English translation removed a sub plot where Haurchefant is romantically interested in the player character. It sounds like maybe the French version still had a little of that?

Do we know if it's going to have the SOS flares from World, as well as the ability to join a hunt already in progress?

That’s great on them to have done that! I’m a religious person and I’ve always had a similar thought: if I ever have kids, I’ll let them know what I believe and why, but I’ll make sure they know that my love for them in no way hinges on them having the same beliefs I do.

When Monster Hunter World first came out, I joined a Discord server called “adopt a hunter” that paired me with a player that was new to the series. Taking them on hunts and giving advice and encouragement was way fun! https://adoptahunter.org/

My wife and I still make these sometimes! I’ve taken to mixing in Teriyaki sauce.

This is how I’ve always felt about the Monster Hunter series. Fantastic games, but incredibly grindy (the grind is kind of the whole point), very difficult, and the methodical, cautious combat can seem clunky to someone who’s not used to it. World has made it a lot more accessible, but it’s still not for everyone.

Let’s see, the last one I abandoned was probably Fire Emblem: Awakening. I got it as a birthday present quite some time ago, and finally got around to trying it, only to find that I just could NOT grok it. Even in the first couple missions, which I’m sure were meant to be the tutorial, I felt like I was getting

My understanding is that when this happens, it is still “off” and safe to unplug. It’s just that some of the running operating system has a snapshot taken of it and stored on the hard drive. Then, when you turn it on again, instead of booting up the os from scratch, it loads that snapshot.

That’s awesome! I’m glad it went so well! I ended up beating Kushala by using a sword and shield with mounting master; it turns out if you mount and topple him, all his wind disappears!

Out of curiosity, do you know what’s changed in Tooth and Tail? I tried it when it first came out and found it frustrating.

I’m deep into Monster Hunter World and loving it, but I still feel like there’s something I’m missing. Maybe it’s not something I’ll find in games. Regardless, thanks for the response!

Out of curiosity, do you know of any modern MMOs that do have that sandbox, technically challenging FFXI kind of feel? FFXI was my first mmo, and at the time I didn’t really get how to play it, but I still loved it and have been chasing that feeling ever since. I love ffxiv, too, but I’ve definitely gotten the “theme

Man, it’s hard to pick just one, but I can certainly tell you the first song/moment that popped into my head: the Coin Song from FFVI, where the two princes gamble the thrown on the flip of a coin. This is a scene that I don’t think I fully comprehended when I played the game as a kid, but in retrospect has become one

I do all my writing in .txt format and do all my formatting with Markdown. I do this because I tend to post things to several different websites and I’ve written a custom Ruby script that does it for me, converting the Markdown to whatever formatting that particular site uses. I keep the files organized in folders if

Yesterday, I was finally going to buy a Switch. I had the money, and I had been in Walmart earlier that week and seen that they had quite a few. But when I went in to ask about it, they told me that they sold their entire stock of Switches to a scalper the day before. Guess I won’t be getting one.

Back when I was a kid and I first played Final Fantasy VI, for some reason I got the idea in my head that I should name all the characters whatever character class they were, which meant I named Locke “Thief.” Which led to the amazing dialog of Terra saying: “Thief, is it true you’re a thief?”

I lived in Argentina for a few years, and my favorite snacks were alfajors. They’re traditional sandwich cookies with the consistency of cake and dulce de leche or some kind of cream in the middle. There were a billion different brands and flavors you could pick up at the tiendas; my favorites were the Aguila brand

I tried to see if there were subtitles, but instead I seem to have gotten the mode where Youtube generates closed captioning based on what’s being said in the video. Since the video was in Japanese, that didn’t quite work. I think it’s one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I’ve watched all week.
