After leaving coaching after 15 years, I am in my second year of umping. There is a HUGE shortage of umps in our area and this is the reason why. Personally, I limit myself to communities that I know are more “laid back”. No reason to subject myself to anything remotely close to this.
When I was a teenaged little league ump, I had parents and coaches nose to nose with me over calls. Those people can go fuck themselves.
