One of the best tracks off of one of the best releases of 2010.

Well they would certainly never would have particpated in any kind of promotional stunts surrounding the Queens jubilee… http://www.youtube.com/watc…

You're not too far off- just shy of 31. I met him at the Del Mar fair (Can't remember if it was for the fair or another event) and was going to have him sign a promo photo for my grandma who was a diehard Chargers fan. Not only did he happily sign it, but tracked down other team mates he was there with so they could

Yeah- that one got me pretty bad. Though I was never a giant football fan, I also grew up in SD, and met Seau when I was a kid- when it was unbelievably exciting to meet an athlete of that star power.- He couldn't have been nicer and more patient and that left a really long impression on me.

Also, Mick Boogie just did a mix of B-sides and out-takes and live cuts that has been on heavy rotation for me all day. He just put it out to commemorate their induction into the the rock hall of fame a couple weeks ago, and it suddenly feels very bittersweet. Definitely recommend it for the grieving. http://mickboogie

I can't think of any other group or artist that has had a wider scope of influence on me culturally. Heartbreaking.

Blatz/Filth -Shit Split
Tragedy- S/T
Waka Flocka - Flockaveli
Mystikal- Unpredictable
DMX- It's Dark and Hell is Hot
Ministry- Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste
Born Against- Nine Patriotic Hymns for Children

This seems like as good a place as any to ask this? For those that have seen it, does the Roberto Benigni Pinnochio have any value from a "so bad it's good" standpoint, or is just straight up unwatchable? It seems downright bizarre to me.

I'm in a similar boat living in Austin- I haven't been to Portland since I was a little kid, and remember it for it's snow more than any of the culture, but just about every local-culture joke could easily be about here, so even the uneven stuff cracks me up from seeing it around town all the time.

It's been pretty terrible as far as more popular over-arching trends go, but I think it's been a pretty great year for more niche and underground groups. My main listening rotation has been heavy on 2011 releases by mostly independent dudes: Danny Brown, ASAP Rocky, Webbie (which is getting totally ignored sadly) Main

I read "daughters Sophie and Mackenzie functioning as blank-faced robotic avatars of cruelty spitting insults at their mothers." as saying black-faced robotic avatars, did double take and saw the same thing, and only caught the actually wording on the third time. The mental picture that mistaken sentence created for

and I'm fully aware that my avatar being curbed from http://opwgkta.tumblr.com/ isn't gonna win me any points for objectivity in this discussion- it honestly stems from my love of all things Shultz more than any kind of OFWGKTA fanaticism

It's actually a writer I like- I used to read her blog pretty regularly (When she updated it more regularly) and have enjoyed a lot of her contributions to Fader and her old column at Pitchfork (interrobang)

Tom Breihan- he used to be the music editor at Village Voice, and used to do of my favorite rap columns (though I often disagreed with him) Status aint Hood. I'm not as crazy about the weekly column as I am of the more round-up style posts he was doing with Out the Trunk.

Ha! I feel a little better now- the one chance I had to meet them, I was borderline black-out drunk as well. I had somehow finagled artists passes to Fun Fun Fun here in austin a few years ago, and ended up paying more attention to the complimentary beverages then the acts for the couple hours prior to them playing. I

Great interview- always exciting to see rappers (especially ones as good as Pusha) getting shine on this site. I would love to see AV Club do some sort of regular rap oriented column, sort of like LOUD but for hip hop, that could cover recent releases and mixtapes of note.

That's a good point. It seems like a constant theme, when another style of music is being viewed through the cool-kid indie rock prism, is a need for relatable authenticity of some kind. It's not until the music has been stripped of it's more theatrical elements does it become honest enough to take seriously. ( an
