Well, classical liberalism DOES mean something in political theory….just want to be clear on that…

It's because we're just children playing with a lighter….or some better analogy. lol.

Not "might be". Is.

According to science, you're not alone.

Again, you keep saying this. It's simply false. Not everyone wants to be an engineer and gender has been proven to not be a factor.

Well, to be fair he immediately ran into the arms of some of the most sexist and bigoted people around….so we can debate whether it's the chicken or the egg but let's not beat around the bush….

They do know. You might not know. "They"= scientists.

Hey man, I wanted to apologize to you for getting into it with you the other day over this issue. I got more into "internet war" mode than I should have. I'm impressed and humbled by your evolution on the topic. I should have probably taken your intellectual curiosity at face value instead of getting all ideological.

Yeah….science doesn't affect career choice. There's a reason he said "in the right context"…..Men and women's brains are not the "same". There's no indication that gender affects career choice or performance to the same degree that socialization does. There just isn't.

Also. Science HAS discussed it and continues to discuss it. I don't see how this is a "I feel this way" argument. Science says it is discrimination (or more specifically, socialization) that affects gender issues more than biological determiners. It's facts. Not real debatable no matter what one side wants you to

Meh. He's an idiot like Damore too.

His ideas are misrepresented- to a degree- in the media, I can see that point. However, I don't believe his ideas are misrepresented to anyone who actually has read the memo….It's clear that his "aw shucks, just say'n" routine doesn't hold up to academic debate.

I feel like you are misreading the memo. How is saying that women aren't in leadership position because they aren't biologically atuned to working late and handling stress not saying women are inferior?

No. Show me one study that shows gender biologically affects career preferences. There isn't one. Sorry.

Sending out a memo like that is not the appropriate was to suggest policy recommendations in any organization I've ever seen. There are lots of reasons for this- and Damore is getting to see some firsthand.

My understanding is that it's at least an "eye-roll". The Cherokee were a "civilized tribe" and mixed around with a lot of whites (my ancestors included) so it is true that many people have a degree of Cherokee blood. It is also fairly easy to officially join the tribe compared to others….

I disagree slightly that men and women's brains are the "same" but as I've said other places, it's semantics. No human's brain is the "same" as another. I believe if you're characterizing personality indicators (which is all his memo dared touch on) then I can see some general differences between genders. To make

Yeah…but the science doesn't back him up….men and women do think differently, but the practical application of biological differences hasn't been proven.

Correct. The only addition is that it isn't just women but other minorities too. Look under the table and pull up the pant leg to see the color of the skin of the person. Use a flashlight. Also, you're going to get fired for being a weirdo.

Alright, I totally went there to see if there was anythign about cultural appropriation…there wasn't. However, it is Canada and in the US I think it's possible we have more of that problem- see: Elizabeth Warren and any other white "Cherokee". That's notwithstanding though….
