This is true.

Due to Life and Other Things I did not get to do this last winter, hopefully I’ll get out again this winter...

huh, just Googled the XT660Z Tenere, it’s basically the same specs as my ‘97 BMW F650 Funduro, but with a 21” front wheel and fuel injection (which was optional, along with ABS on the F650....) -actually the carburetted F650 has 2 more HP and weighs a few pounds less, but it’s VERY close- Yeah I really do enjoy a big

I’m gonna just Link to this comment I made on another post because the sentiment is pretty much the same and I don’t feel like writing a new rant right now.

Except they don’t make the R any more, and no one who owns one is selling unless it’s beat to within an inch of it’s life.

YES. The Wee-Strom has pretended to be the solution to this dilema for too long, and the KTM will be too expensive (but probably awesome). Bring on the AT650! (or if it’s a Yamaha they could call it the Sub Tenere)

yeah, one of my old bosses had an XR650, he was 6’2”. I rode his once... It was like riding a freaken giraffe. (I’m 5’8”, with a 29” inseam..) I can see the appeal of a Giant dirt bike for crossing the middle of nowhere at high speed, but as a daily it just seems too tall and gangly. I guess I really lean toward

I didn’t realize they ever sold the Transalp in North America, let alone the little one! But then again, I’m not a Honda guy and usually don’t pay much attention to them...

yup, I didn’t actually watch this to the end, but the title of the article is misleading, or at the very least doesn’t match the video... And actually, I think I’ve seen this video before on jalopnik, now that I think about it. And I think it was correctly labeled back then... It may have been like 2010 or something...

these are all true things, but I still don’t LIKE the XR650. ;P

the biski is ugly as sin, and obviously compromised as a motorcycle, but I still want one.

ah, yes that makes sense.

wow, at those speeds that was a very long response. I’m surprised there wasn’t a closer responder in an area that metropolitan...

Except the XR650 is an ancient design (released in 1993! Even the BMW F650/G650, Kawasaki Ninja 250/300, and fer-chistsake even the CUB have been updated more since then!) long overdue for replacement... I mean, a street-legal bike, that in this day and age touts “Electric start and automatic decompression!” WTF,

AfricaTwin 750(600/650/whatever)? If so, yesplease.

YES. Needs More Stars.

A 20 year old Ninja 250 is ABSOLUTELY up to the task of highway commuting. A 250 Ninja is the first vehicle I ever broke 100MPH on. No, a TW250 isn’t up to that task, but it’s a freaken’ dirt bike with turn signals.

It isn’t, unless you want to travel DIRECTLY into the wind or DIRECTLY with the wind.

No. It depends on very, very carefully exploiting them to the fullest. Eventually the friction required between the tire and surface to overcome the drag will exceed the available surface-contact area and acceleration will cease, that’s even assuming no transmission losses (which, in reality there are).

My FieSTa has 15s and Direzza Z-IIs as God and Physics intended.
