I guess the bottom line here is that people are going to behave how they want, and there are already systems in place to ignore/mute these people... I don't understand why there's still a discussion when there's already a workaround.

When and if that happens, I suppose I'll have to examine my life choices and make a change, haha. I don't stalk people... I'll occasionally send a message, but only one unless the person responds and wants to face off. Most people just ignore it and we're done. I know there are people out there who spew a lot more…
I don't find my rights to be more deserving of respect at all. I'm well aware that some of my behavior is in poor taste. That's why I encourage anyone who doesn't want to hear me to utilize their mute function. If a person doesn't want to hear me after 3 seconds of hearing me speak, they're free to take the 3 seconds…
For someone so opposed to being a "dick" on the Internet, you're coming awfully close. Attempting to tell a troll he shouldn't troll by trolling him doesn't seem like a very sound way to present an argument. It's impossible to have a logical discussion with a hypocrite, so I think we're done here. Good day, sir.
The words are real? If I thought every loud-mouthed 13 year old kid who says he's going to rape my babies was serious, I'd be banned from calling 911 for crying wolf. The people are real? How do you explain RP servers on MMOs?
I don't find my fun more important than anyone else's, and your argument is weak. The fact that I play rough does not imply elitism, and you're taking my quote about not playing by the rules out of context. I shouldn't have to play by real life rules online, and I don't feel like anyone should HAVE to. It's a game.…
Using words like "clearly," "obvious," and telling me what I "should" do implies a level of condescension and narcissism which could lead one to use a word like "hypocrisy."
Of what feature would I be stripping people? I encourage them to USE the feature designed to silence me (and only me) if they disagree with or are offended by what I say. I'm not excusing it because I do it. It doesn't bother me when other people do it... but good work regurgitating what you learned in your college…
Is there an "I want to breathe car exhaust and second hand smoke" button? Nope, there's breathing masks.
No, I get the point, but the point of the article misses the point of online gaming. Who's to label what it should or shouldn't be. Does 'Rated M for Mature" mean nothing?
See? I know you're not serious because you'll likely never meet me and the likelihood that you would ever do that to my hypothetical children is slim to none! How could anyone get mad about that statement?
That's the spirit!
I'm going to have to call into question the line between fantasy and reality here. An amusement park is real life. And an online game (at least the ones where I'm located) is fantasy and requires the user to be 17 or have parental approval to purchase.
It's a problem that you can't hit someone in the face? Some of the responses to my comment make me feel less and less abhorrent.
Not at all. I wouldn't hurt anyone in the real world any more than I'd choose to play a game about cooking a steak. What you're implying is that killing a person is the same as talking some shit, which is a foolish, poorly-chosen metaphor.
While I must adamantly disagree about my being a piece of shit, I can understand how you might draw that conclusion. Plenty of people choose to mute me, and that's their right, but if you choose to engage me, you choose to step onto my playground. Game on!
Wow, so suddenly I'm a racist? All these assumptions are staggering. If my attitude ruins your day, you have bigger problems than me.
Good thing I stay away from those parts of Alabama.
I agree that when I'm in the real world, I should follow it's rules. If you wanted me to follow real world rules while I'm playing online, I suppose I should stop blowing up cars and killing people.
Assuming that I'm in the same category as someone who would harass and stalk another player to a degree that would get someone arrested in the real world is a symptom of over generalizing...
