Dunno. If he IS aware of Gore's background, I suspect he plays the same game a lot of racists do: saying shit about a group of people as a whole, but exempting certain individuals so as not to disturb the greater narrative.

For what it's worth, Depeche Mode main songwriter Martin Gore's father was an African-American serviceman. You would think a "lifelong Depeche Mode fan" would have known that.
