Not to mention that despite Apple allowing ads to be targeted based on the IDFA, its not Apple doing the targeting. If you allow FB or Google access to your IDFA, they are often the ones serving up the data, Apple is just a host.

Much as I hate to defend giant corporations, the IDFA as Apple has it is actually pretty good. You can reset it at any point, or just tap the switch that zeroes out the value permanently. That’s the whole point of creating the IDFA as a wipeable/changeable value by the user, rather than allowing companies to see the

Why do these “re-designed” classic supercars all have a front end that looks like a 90's Camaro?

Trypophobia is made-up internet meme, like hating the word “moist” or having strong feelings about pineapple on pizza.

Primarily because they knew they were going to do her body with CGI (because cyborg) but also because they’re adapting a manga/anime to to live-ish action. Few people look like anime characters, particularly a character like Alita. (Although Edward Norton is eerily like Nova, and Christopher Waltz makes a good Ido.)

Loved this movie.

It’s called managing costs to keep them relative to revenues. Every company on earth, no matter how big or small, has to constantly manage this, every day.

Man who writes about things that destroy the environment bitches about company that fuels them. Film at 11.

Yes, flax is the name of the whole plant. When the inner fibers are removed thru retting, scutching and hackling; then you have linen fibers and the outer husk (dissolving the binding between inner and outer fibers, scraping off outer husk, basically combing the linen fibers and removing the leftover husk bits).

Since this material is made from flax, would it be a linen car?

I made Auto Correct shortcuts in Word! I made it so if I type “PPP” or “SSS” or whatever strange combination I make up that I won’t type in regular life, as soon as I hit space Word automatically corrects it to the symbol. So I only had to track down the symbol once when I made my rules.

Cannot tell if you are overvaluing yourself, your profession, or keyboards with extraneous keys. Color me verklempt about the implications of any of the above.

Uh. I’m a software engineer who uses the exact keyboard in this article. Just because we don’t type that many numbers doesn’t mean that we have simple jobs.

I’m an engineer who needs to do a LOT of typing, but for the last 15 years I’ve worked almost exclusively on laptop keyboards and on the K2 , so I’ve adapted to the lack of the keypad. I can touchtype pretty easily now. It’s not that big a deal.

If you ever took a proper typing class they teach you to type with the numbers on the top row, it also doubles as learning how to type efficiently with the symbols. The number pad is useless. Instead of dissing on someone’s job maybe you should learn how to type.

I’m assuming this is Elon being sarcastic.  I don’t think he knows when to use sarcasm, but he’s trying, bless his heart.

Unfortunately, yes. A lot of people apparently.

Random guess hottake:
This’ll turn out to be a drone with a life-sized dummy attached that someone either made as a prank or for Halloween.

One other thing... when you say:

Shouldn’t 1 million acres be a megafire?
