California has banned (or at least voluntarily replaced) road salt with alternatives. Too much vegetation being burnt be the salt. I believe they use sand/grit and beet juice.

I have seen spinning nozzles on wheels (almost like a sprinkler) to rinse underneath cars. I would run a hose from inside so it’s warm water and just rinse enough to get the salt off.
THAT’S MY OLD CAR!!!!
