Young Gen Xer here (43). We never expected Boomer levels of retirement unless we saved for it ourselves. Social Security has only ever suppose to keep the elderly from living in object poverty and I have never worked for a company that offered a pension plan for someone my age.

For item 2.   CARB ZEV credits disappear at the end of 2025.

I learned in my High School driver’s ed class back in the early 90's. One of the range cars that never left the parking lot was an early 80‘s Dodge Omni with a manual transmission. To pass the manual section of the exam we had to start from a stop, shift into 2nd, shift back into 1st, and stop without stalling. It was

I wouldn’t bother attempting to debate a Q. (The guy that used to sit next to me at work was one - talking about how Obama was going to have the military round up the “patriots” and put them in FEMA concentration camps in Walmarts”)

The company I work for has 8 Smart EVs as pool cars. They are better than the gas version but still a pretty bad vehicle. They do work well for running back and forth from building to building in a 3 mile radius.

The definition of a coup is simply the illegal seizure of power from a government. Most coup attempts are made by outside groups attempting to overthrow a government. In this case you have a government attempting to overturn an election and illegally stay in power.

5 people that were arrested while attempting to break into the House chamber were armed with firearms.

Pretty much every article on the Land Cruiser over the last month. Look to Autoweek for just one example.

Yes, the idea of what demagogy like Trump could do surrounded by competent people is frightening.

When I graduated from college in 2000 I decided to buy a interesting 1972 Porsche 914 instead of a boring Civic for the same money. In hindsight it was a fun car but a poor financial decision.

Toyota is adding the hybrid option to the newly redesigned 2022 Land Cruiser not the existing one. The US engine options (if we get the Land Cruiser) will be V6 or Hybrid V6. The USA is not getting the diesel option.

Hybrids aren’t complicated. It is 20 year old technology today and proven to be very reliable.

You witnessed an attempted coup in the United States of America.

A low-volume diesel makes absolutely no sense for the US market.  You can get the same torque and better fuel economy from a hybrid without the emissions hassle.

I wouldn’t say “most” parts of the country. The median home price in the USA is $324,900 so your house it pretty average. It is the coasts where home prices are out of wack.

Yes, the Sovereign Wealth Fund is part of the future plan to take today’s oil profits and invest in the future.

That is a true but misleading statement. People see that number and believe the typical car today is sold for $37,000. However, it comes down to how that average transaction price is calculated. The $37,000 average is the mean and skewed by a relatively small number of expensive vehicles. The average (median)

Why would the Saudis spend money to shift their own economy to electric? They have enough oil to power their own country basically forever.

The solution for those that don’t make enough to get the full tax credit is to lease. The lease company gets the full $7500 and should be open to rolling it into the the deal to lower the lease payment. (If they won’t do that then find a different dealer)

That is what I read.   The jets that crashed were purchased by airlines that didn’t spend the money on redundant sensors.
