Both Hyundai and Kia are part of the Hyundai Motor Group - Korea’s second largest multinational conglomerate. Along with automobiles and trucks they also have steel, auto parts, construction equipment, financial companies, and even some real estate / hospitality.

After more than 225,000 miles, that modest engine is burning or dripping about a quart of oil between every gas fill-up.

1st Gear: I’ve worked in the industry for about 20 years for both suppliers and automakers. COVID is causing massive problems with the typical just in time inventory methods. That has led to a lot of parts being late. When supplier doesn’t deliver a part in time they have two choices. They can pay the automaker about

When I lived in Michigan I went to the coin operated car wash about once a week during the winter and spent a few dollars rinsing off the salt spray. It rarely got washed in the summer.

Except they aren’t actual SUVs. The are “crossovers” which is just a new name for a hatchback or wagon. The “crossover” Mach-E GT only has 5.3 inches of ground clearance. Less than the 5.7 inches of a BMW 330i sedan.

No, the post S&P slump shouldn’t surprise anyone. Tesla stock went up 70% between the announcement it would joint the S&P 500 index and the day it joined. That bump wasn’t due to good news at Tesla (the news has been bad) but on the speculation that the requirement for index funds to all buy Tesla stock at once would

Good thing that the Mach-E isn’t a crossover then.   It is just a 4 door liftback with 5.3 inches of ground clearance.

CAT exited the on-highway market in 2009.

No Ford Tempo is worth more than $1,000.

My highest mileage car was a 2003 Jetta Wagon TDI that we bought new and sold in 2013 with 239,038 miles. Sold it to a friend of the family that drove from Michigan to Alabama to buy a rust free TDI. It was still driving the last I knew. We sold it because after about 200K miles little things in the interior started

My in-laws gave us a 1995 Thunderbird with 146K miles in 2005. I did a bunch of deferred maintenance. (Radiator hoses, spark plugs, transmission fluid, oil change, etc). It had made it that far with nothing but oil changes at 3000 miles at the local quick lube and an occasional air filter.

Very nice van.   I’m looking to do something similar with either a Transit dually or a E350 box truck.

There is no objective measure or metric that makes Tesla worth $60 billion let alone the $600 billion they are currently valued at today. It is a cult of personality. Tesla stock owners believe in Musk and are willing to invest despite - and in for some people because - the investment community says Tesla is massively

Yes. I have a friend that bought a 2016 Model X and paid $5000 for FSD upfront expecting to have a car that would drive her to work in the morning and home from the bar at night within a year.

The study I linked above basically says the greater the distance between the bikes and cars the better.

Plenty of studies show adding biking infrastructure reduces bicycle fatalities.

Per federal law the legal power limit for an e-bicycle is 750 watts and any of the internal hubs can take that.

One year my father got a cheap jacket with the company logo as a “bonus” Another year he “earned” a $0.01 per hour raise.

Geely already bought their way into Europe when they bought Volvo.

I love mine.   Silent and maintenance free.
