Yes! I love me some Tessa Dare. She has been a new discovery this past year and I love love Do You Want to Start a Scandal. It’s what got me into Tessa Dare in the first place.
Oooohhh, I love those kind of patron interactions. I love being called a liar when I’m giving you the right answer. The stuff they don’t teach you in library school...
It kind of depends on the patron and the movie. We have a large homeless population, so most of them don’t even know how to pirate movies.
But the patrons who really want to watch like the Suicide Squad and don’t want to wait forever and a day to get it; they’ll usually go to a red box or something.
We do get donations. But, most of the time the stuff is pretty gnarly. I’m talking mold, blood stains, etc. So, what we do is donate the good stuff to our Friends of the Library where they have 2 big books sales a year. The money made from the sale goes to literacy and author programs.
At the library I work at, we have to pay more for dvds since they’ll be circulated more. But, at least someone’s paying for it, I guess? It can also lead to people actually buying the movie if they really like it that much.
When I saw this happened in South Carolina, I immediately thought of this news article from the Post and Courier about domestic violence in South Carolina. (http://postandcourier.com/app/till-death/index.html)
I totally agree with this. Working in a public library system, I come across a multitude of patrons who are looking for job applications and click on the first link they see, even though it’s monster jobs site! There is a huge digital literacy gap as well as critical thinking skills gap in America.
Kara, your eyebrows are fierce. I am super jealous.
I swear by the NARS velvet matte skin tint. I also have the Born this Way foundation, and I think the NARS one is lighter in feel, but has great coverage. I am also super oily and think controls oil fairly well.
