I use VLC and it's very handy every now & then but, gasp, I really don't like it very much. It's got clownish icons & buttons, is generally not very attractive, and is generally a bit weird in use. If they could bring in some usability talent, that would be great.

@Sean Lee Fowler: Existing users won't install Win7, they'll upgrade to it from XP or Vista. So their drive won't be wiped and their existing apps will be maintained.

I was both surprised and happy to read Linus Torvalds' comment about SVN (and CVS): "Because my hatred of CVS has meant that I see Subversion as being the most pointless project ever started".

Yikes, I thought the Ferrari P4/5 was hard on the eyes.

There's no way on earth I'd buy this if it were badged Buick or Saturn. Why not sell it in the USA as ... an Opel. I'd buy an Opel.

@twii: Very fast is an understatement. Everything should be renamed Lightning.

@David Demchuk: Their FAQ indicates that it's pronounced "kim-oh", as in "eskimo". So quite distinct from "chemo".

@IvesCache: I scanned it with [virustotal.com] and three local scanners and none of them reported any issues with this program. Which tool is reporting that it contains a trojan?

I have a question: why do so many US cars, and even US variants of European and Japanese cars, have red turn signal lamps at the rear? Everywhere else uses orange which would seem to make more sense because you can quickly distinguish them from (red) brake lights.

For some unfathomable reason you are required to use the Windows dialog to select the folder you want to scan and you cannot simply type in the folder name. That's not good.

@Merricat: "RAR is more commonly supported in applications". Really? It's hard to imagine that RAR is more commonly supported than zip or tar (or tar.gz). In the real world, anyway.

@tf3737: There's no restriction on country of origin.

Potentially useful but was slower than I was hoping for. That blasted Everything search tool has redefined fast for me and now everything else runs too slowly :-(

I'm done with Digsby. The most recent installs have a whole world of questionable co-installed software built into them. Plus Digsby itself is increasingly lagging behind changes to Hotmail with the result that Digsby does not function correctly for 2 weeks per month on average.

@Jason: Could not agree more. Lookout does everything I need and has no superfluous bloat.

@DavinClytias: My primary navigation is via the search box. Type in some related text and I generally find the note I'm looking for right away.

@ferris209: Maybe I'm half-asleep but I read that 3 times and it still makes no sense.
