Seriously, that takes some balls to get in the ring with that botch machine.

Sorry, I shouldn’t have been so aggressive in my original post. I get upset when people give blanket financial advice, but I don’t think that was your intention. Also...probably the wrong forum to debate the value of a mortgage.

People who pay cash are smarter in that they’re not letting the dealership walk all over them. The sad truth is that the dealership is well aware that there is money on top of the sale to be made by financing or leasing a car to a consumer.

The moment a person comes in with the cash, is the moment that the dealership

To me, it’s too expensive. I bought my RD250 a few years back for $650. I was then torn between that one and 400 that was for sale for $1100. Both complete and running. To me, it’s rather mad.

I bet these are pretty scary at their top speed (45MPH)

That’s my main concern; no, its not really a big deal for the company or individual on face value, but it presents a liability that I’m surprised Google hasn’t at least addressed as it sounds like this isn’t an isolated incident. The main issues I can see are: liability for damages (as you point out), zoning issues,

This is also my theory on tax withholding. Yes, from a strictly financial perspective, you should strive to have 0 refund or owe taxes so the government isn’t getting an interest-free loan. From a human behavior status, though, I’m much more likely to save or put towards a durable good purchase a $2000 lump sum tax

Exactly correct. It’s commonly stated that one can “invest and easily get a better return” but the reality is that people don’t do that. If you can’t pay cash for the car you cannot afford it, period. “I can afford the payments” is not the same thing.

Typical media taking a quote out of context. I've been watching the whole thing live. That reponse was in reply to a question on how it was developed. He later gave a brief explanation of how the vehicle was able to detect on it was in an EPA test to then give the false codes.

The reason:

You can buy pretty much any part new for airheads, often at fairly reasonable prices. Hell, you can get most anything you want from your local BMW dealer if you don’t mind the markup. Part availability is one of the best things about these motorcycles.

As someone who’s owned a performance diesel. Urea injection is a lot more involved than meth or water injection. And the tank is a lot larger than a window washer reservoir. Here’s a diagram of the urea injection and SCR system on a BMW. You have to design the chassis of the car with the SCR in mind. They already know

nope. your “test” is uncontrolled, unscientific, non-repeatable, and therefore invalid. If you ran your test and got one set of numbers, then I ran your test as close to the “same” way but on a different day (which was 10° hotter, had a 15 mph stronger headwind, and oh by the way I’m 80lbs heavier than you,) I’d get

Software cheats don’t require much in the way of budget, mate. You need a laptop and let’s see, what else?...a person.

Everyone really believes that the board knows all about this?

You’re nuts. Its the opposite. The engineers were surely under pressure to get it right, and couldn’t. So they fudged it.
